The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Westminster Abbey's Field of Remembrance

On November 7, 2019, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the 91st Field of Remembrance Service at Westminster Abbey in London, England. The Duchess of Sussex visited the Westminster Abbey's 'Field of Remembrance' for the first time. The Field of Remembrance is a place where former service men and women, as well as members of the public, can plant a cross carrying a personal message in memory of those who have lost their lives in action. The Duchess wore a wrap coat by Sentaler.

  1. Oh I think this is lovely - beautiful coat, pretty hat, nice mix of colours (blues and black). Perfect look for the occasion! (V.M.)

    1. I fully agree! The hair is questionable, but I would not dare say this or that would be better. This is her style, I think she can stick to it for now.

    2. Meghan's hair is lovely. Similar to the style worn my Late.

  2. Meghan has a wide waist and this heavy coat makes her look pregnant. Her makeup is impecable which makes her look fresh and 5 years younger then Catherine.

    1. Totally agree. I like her fresh makeup!

    2. I totally agree with you.

I'm not saying a wide waist is "bad" or "good" thing. It just is what it is and Megan never did have a skinny waist even before Archie. Sometimes pregnancy changes aspects of your body and figure permanently and I think pregnancy has permanently changed her waist. I don't think it's "giving in to pressure" to make adjustments to your wardrobe accordingly. Megan needs a wardrobe with less belting and other aspects that makes her waistline look worse instead of accentuating it. The only other qualm I have with this look is that all the hair makes things look cluttered. Pulled back, or to the side so that the red poppy can be seen, would improve the look.

    3. I think the foundation is to heavy and to dark.
Catherine looks more mature, not older.
Meghan has A beautifull small form of face that makes her look young, , but the little snubnose prevents her to be A real beauty.

    4. Completely agree! I love how the hat flatters her face, but the coat is I’ll fitting and the boots are a little clunky. Her hair and make up is flawless and she looks very pretty.

    5. Why you compare with Katerina, Katerine is a classic beauty and more nobel looking than Meghan. What à comparation Meghan has to much extensions in her hair.

    6. Gil, you are so right. Catherine is very classy. While Meghan is actually one year older I think she looks several years older than Catherine.

    7. I don't think she looks old at all! On the contrary I think sometimes Kate looks a bit old.

  4. Les bottes sont magnifiques mais les cheveux sont trop longs . Un chapeau avec voilette ne va pas avec cette coiffure d’adolescente .

  5. I love the midnight blue coat and fully understand why she wore a black dress but those two colours together are not my favourite combination. All one colour would have been better and still very appropriate to the event.
However Meghan looks good and I commend her and Harry for attending and paying tribute to veterans and the war dead.

    2. Hi LilyBart, I'm also a black + dark blue fan!

    3. Navy and black look great together. The idea that the two colors should not be worn together is a very old fashioned one.

    4. Navy and black can be worn together, old fashioned or not - they're just not my preferred combination without another colour, and even more so when they are both in the same tonal range, as in the outfit above. They look too similar, yet are noticeably not. Contrasting shades of dark blue and black, especially when combined with white can look fantastic.
If the dress was in the same lovely colour as the coat, it would not only provide a stylishly quiet tone-on-tone element to the outfit, but help to reduce attention from the parting of the coat at the hips. Just my opinion.

    2. She really could use a nice trim. Not cut off several inches or anything that drastic but just attend to the ends and give it a little more shape. I like her with long hair but long hair demands attention.

  9. It must be cold......a good well dressed look for the Duchess of Sussex. But I do wish these high waisted Coat's and Dresses would go out of Fashion soon, they often look very unflattering.
Not sure what it is with warm Winter coats and a low neck, it somehow does not look right, at least IMHO , a scarf or higher cut top would finish the look nicely.

  10. She should get rid of her hair extensions. They have become very obvious as the color and texture of her own hair is different. She has a very pretty face and this hair detracts from her beauty.

    1. All those extensions make her hair look very untidy

    2. I don't think she has extensions.

    3. Yes,they are really too much and often very untidy. Some extensions for length or volume is OK but they shouldn't so obvious. They overwhelm most of her outfits.

      Delete
    4. Couldn't agree more re hair extension. Oh well, to each their own.

      Delete
    5. Her extensions will soon become a controversial issue. She preaches feminism and yet this human hair is obtained in very inhuman ways, women are forced to cut their hair off for the trade.

  11. Very nice: hat, makeup, boots (I have the same)
Partly good: coat. She should take to him another belt (such as a model). She seems to like oversize coats without buttons.
Minus: hair. An updo would be much better suited to the occasion. But I appreciate that she does not dig her hair with her fingers in either picture.

    2. Agree. The cropped pictures of the coat looked great. I think if the coat had not either bunched or seemed to flare open at the bottom- bathrobe like- it would have been great.

  12. She looks amazing. I personally love navy and black together so this is a dream. I do wish that she put her hair up in a simple bun beacise of the formal occassion. A 9 from me!

  13. Love the make-up and the hat is so cute. Of all the dark coats that she has, I would have preferred any of them to this. It doesn't seem to sit too well on her. It doesn't close properly, it seems bundled up, with the belt. I would have loved to have seen the beautiful coat she wore at Christmas last year, would have been a nice repeat. Bel x

  14. The cloth look very heavy.... Her hair:...after her pregnancy, she definitely needs a hair cut, her hair in an up do would look better at such an occasion.

  15. Un look vraiment parfait pour ce genre de cérémonie ; très fraîche, discrètement maquillée.. heureusement qu'elle porte un ravissant bibi à voilette pour retenir ses longs cheveux !!!

  16. I think this beautiful coat should be worn like on the model: closed. Because being partly open and partly closed simply ruins the style, it looks somehow unfinished/disarranged (not: "nonchalant", as it might have been planned). I prefer the original belt (also forwide waist) or at least another one, this one is too thin on the front side for this coat (it is different on the back, but not really better). Maybe this is why it sits too high. - Hair: I am sure she cares for her hair. But it looks disheveled. --- Pro: The headpiece is very pretty, really cute and elegant at the same time. Makeup is also very nice.

  17. I like a fascinator but I'm not a fan of the coat, it seems too small or badly tied up.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Individually, they pieces are fine - and I love the color! But the hat and the coat don't seem to work together (hat seems a little too refined for the coat), and the belt and the coat don't work together either (belt looks for small for the coat - why not use the belt that comes with the coat?). Her hair is starting to overpower her look. Also, she needs to find boots that flatter her thinner calves, these appear too big and are bunching up - looking a little slouchy for the occasion.

In short - she needs a good stylist.

  20. Nice outfit. Her hairstyle goes well with the fascinator and this coat is nice, but it would look better with the original belt.

  23. Oh dear. I think the pieces separately are lovely but put together in this fashion, it looks very untidy, especially in contrast to the men and women (including Prince Harry) in well tailored uniforms who were also present for the ceremony. Like I said, lovely pieces, but probably not right for the occasion.

I typically love when the Duchesses' hair is down but with the thick coat, folded over collar and loose curls, it is all too too much.

I look forward to seeing these pieces again, hopefully in a more balanced outfit.

  24. No, I don”t think this is A good combination: coat and boots too sportive for the occasion and not in line with the velvet petit elegant hat.
The hair is much to much and should be tucked away.

  25. It's a gorgeous coat, I just don't like the way it opens up from the waist down. It looks so much better on the model.

  26. I'm sorry but I think this coat looks like a bathrobe. Just terrible. And the hair is too messy with this formal hat. Meghan is beautiful - she could look so much better. DMP

She looks beautiful, everything fits, and we should not impose Meghan Kate's old-fashioned style.

    2. Each to their own opinion. I agree with Anon 1:16. The coat is ill-fitting and the hair is quite messy. I also disagree with Anon 4:51. Catherine is not old-fashioned but classic and tailored.

    3. Agree with Anon 7:53 Duchess Catherine is not old-fashioned but classic and tailored. She has a very good stylist. If Duchess Meghan wore the same clothes as Ds Chatherine, we would think as well that she is younger and fresher and chicer. The personality makes the difference. Duchess Kate corresponds to the traditional image of women and Ds. Meghan is a feminist (women deserve the same level of dignity) and an artist.

  27. Is it just me, or does the coat look like a belted bathrobe? It is a lovely color, but the shape, texture, and way she has it belted, does not suit her. Less belting, would look better on her, whether or not she is pregnant. If she had a coat made from the same texture of fabric her hat is made from, it would have looked nicer, in a swing style. Her hair looks 'too much', she should have pulled it back in a low bun, it takes over her features which are beautiful.

  29. Oh, this is nice. Love the hat and gloves and generally like the coat. Colour and texture good but the belt prevents it from being entirely flattering. Interesting point from Anon 11:22 re lack of waist. The only real minus here for me is the untidy hair. Updo, semi updo or just tied back would look much better.

  30. The hat is quite inappropriate;the netting should be left off; it is not a party,a plain hat is more fitting for a sombre occassion. The rest of the outfit is lovely,I like the boots.Makeup looks nice.

  32. The coat looks lumpy and frumps. She should not wear coats with belts as they dont suit her. A straight polo coats and fitted boots would of looked better. Makeup and hat are very nice.

  33. The color of outfit is fitting for the solemn occasion. Make up is nice. But other than that the outfit looks kind of disheveled, like something one puts on in a hurry. Can't put my finger on it, was it the boot or runched up waist of the coat. Would prefer hair up or half up.

  36. I start to think that Meghan's style is quite personal, too personal, and that she is bound to attract citicism for ever, probably highly unjustified. The general look is ok, provided her personality is accepted!

  37. The Duchess looks lovely, I really like this coat. But it looks ill fitting. The gap in the front throws the look off balance. It looked much better on the model enclosed. The belt does not go with the coat. Boots are too bulky/sloppy, giving the outfit added heaviness. The hat is divine, love the colour, just enough netting over her face, with the subtle add-on of sparkles it looks lovely. The Duchess's makeup is perfect.

  41. The colour of her hat looks really good on her and her false lashes really open up and accentuate her eyes. The coat looks nice and warm. More than that I'll reserve my comments.

  42. The colours go very well together. The fascinator is pretty too, I wish she had styled her hair differently though - she is drowning in hair and coat. I also think the outfit would have been better without these long boots.
