  1. Queen Letizia looks fabulous here. The double-breasted blazer is well tailored, with all the stripes, for lack of a better description, aligned perfectly. The white background is a great canvas on which to display the black pattern. Her pants are a perfect fit and length, and the turtleneck, shoes and clutch finish off the look. She and King Felipe are a very attractive pair.

  9. Quite the ceremony to see them off... I like Letizia´s outfit as a travel outfit (minus the heels), but for that sort of ceremony, it seems a bit casual, especially the leggings-style trousers.

    1. Casual? What Ceremony? It was only the National Anthem before getting on the plane, you can see the Minister who travel with them....She must wear a crown to travel by plane 9 hours.

Sometimes when someone does not understand the situation should be ask or be quiet.

    2. Is that a Ceremony for you?? It is the hearing of the National Anthem which is done like that in Spain. It is because the govermment is travelling also. A State Visit...I can't see the "ceremony".

    3. Walking on a red carpet, standing on a fancy podium, listening to the anthem, people in their parade uniforms saluting. I call that a ceremony, and it´s a very formal departure. And I would not wear casual leggings-style trousers for that. That´s all.

Other royals, when leaving for a trip abroad, just walk over the airfield and board the plane with no ceremonial routine involved.

Not very nice to tell someone to "be quiet".

    4. I agree with you Vanessa. Tight pants are never appropriate when we are talking state anthem.

    5. Not very nice to say "Quite the ceremony to see them off"...I think nobody obligued you to see them.
Every Country does things different, and it is not a "ceremony".
Others Royals?? All Queens and Kings do that...maybe you have not seen it....Kate and William are not Kings...

She wears somethig confortable to fly.

    7. Every time the National Anthem is played I run home to change my clothes...LOL...
At football matches people should wear a dress....lol....
      Making up new rules...

    8. What is wrong with me observing that they went through a rather formal departure ceremony? A ceremony is - by definition - a ritual that is done for symbolic reasons rather than logistic requirements. That is definitely the case here. You may not like my wording, and it might be referred to as something else in the protocol, but it is a ceremony. Various nations do that differently, exactly, and Spain seems to have a rather formal approach. Other countries surely also have officials present to see off the head of state when departing for a state visit. But I doubt that all countries have red carpet + podium + anthem + guards in full dress uniform and the media covering it all.
It´s of course a different story at arrival when the state guest are received by their hosts.

    9. There is nothing wrong with you making your observation Vanessa - your understanding of the word ceremony is the same as mine. But I think she looks fine - she looks smart but ready to comfortable for a long flight.

I think it's important to understand that there is a small contingent of aggressive Spanish posters who seem to think that it's impossible to know or have an opinion on anything Spanish if you aren't Spanish. The reverse is not true for them - they can make as many comments about other royals, or can attack you based on what they imagine you to be saying rather than what you might actually be saying.

  15. Love the jacket! The trousers are the perfect fit for a slimmer, more modern style. It is a very appropriate outfit for a sending off ceremony!
