  1. Oh Charlene come on a tuxedo!! and looking at Albert in a strange way! This public display of unhappiness is embarrassing at this point.
This is supposed to be one of the most glamorous events in Monaco. Back in the days Grace Kelly and her daughters used to wear tiaras.

Thanks to Caroline, Beatrice and Tatiana their smiles and beautiful gowns saved the day.

    1. Whatever is going on with Charlene, if she has to take time off from being in the public eye in order to address
her issues, I hope she'll do it.

    2. I think the tuxedo is elegant and a wonderful way to challenge the patriarchal, and sometimes misogynistic, gender roles of royal families. Good for her.

    4. I agree. So far, I didn´t really think she looked that unhappy. I saw calmness, she looked distant and like in thought, demure and solemn. But now I cannot help but agree that she looks unhappy and somehow annoyed to be there. I can understand when people look stone-faced when listening to a speech, when anthems are played, when ceremonies are carried out and they just attend passively. But when making an entrance, when greeting people and actively being part of an event, I expect more. Doesn´t need to be crazy excitement, just friendly manners, some effort for the people who came to be there and greet her, some effort to honour the significance of the celebration.
I cannot say that Charlene looks bad in her outfit. In fact, I think it fits her well, is very polished and makes the sash pop. But I too feel disappointed about the sombre colour and soberness of this outfit when some more festiveness was in order. For that reason, I really like what Caroline is wearing. It´s festive, it´s monegasque colours, and it has the presence that matches the status of the princely family.
Beatrice and that other lady in black (is that Tatiana?) should have opted for less depressing colours as well.

    5. I tend to believe that it is the relationship with her in-laws which creates the uneasyness.

    6. Come on, Mars - I've asked Venus and even she says this is not "Charlene-Bashing!"

      Could not agree more.
      Very sad.

    9. As far as I am aware MaryT there is no issue with her in-laws. Caroline and Stephanie may not have much in common with Charlene other than their brother but they went out of the way to welcome her into the family. Who knows what is going on?

  2. More sombre outfits. with the honourable exception of Princess Caroline. Not really a fan of any of them--I think you can see Tatiana Casiraghi in the background in one photo with a distinctly gothic look. And still Charlene does not smile even when accepting flowers from the little girl. All seems very sad

    1. Tatiana and Pierre did not attend, the woman with a gothic look is Charlene's sister in law.

  3. Sigh. The only thing to like about Charlene's Victor/Victoria look is her beautiful earrings. Tatiana looks downright scary. I'd love to see a bit more of Beatrice's gown; from what can be seen in the photos, I think I'd adore it.

  4. The First Lady of Monaco is a miracle to me. She seems to be frozen in her beautiful face and outfit. No smile??? She does not even move a single muscle.
Caroline made my day. Good that she stayed "natural". And a brilliant colour of her velvet dress.

  5. Tatiana looks like death warmed over. Charlene, as usual, does not look happy. All the ladies' smiles look frozen in place.

  6. Agreeing with Winnie and AnnieM, ... even understanding that photos are only a snapshot of an instant of these people’s day, that it is awkward to watch the sadness and discomfort here. We have seen many many snapshots by now and start to guess an overall picture of the life of Charlene. Her earrings are spectacular but I wish I could convince her of her worth as a person and stop her from continually trying to perfect her face! Looking back at her first photos with Albert, she was just a girl, with wrinkles and crooked bits and just lovely as she was and smiling so often. Now, so changed, we rarely see a genuine sign of joy - even when a child offers her flowers. How sad. - Jemmi

  10. Caroline looks wonderful. She still is the queen of the ball by her presence alone....In the meantime I have seen some other pictures of the daytime ceremony in which Caroline looks much better....The wrong lighting can age 20 years.....

  11. After looking at these photos and thinking about other ones from previous days, I was also surprised that Charlene did not even smile when she received flowers from a little girl (in a traditional dress, mind you), this is a very strange reaction from any woman dealing with small children in a similar situation.

  12. Wonderful hair and jewellery. I think that is all I have to say.

  13. I like the tuxedo. A smart choice in these days. You does not always have to wear a dress because you are a woman. To a party you can wear a costume if it looks festive.

  20. I do not like any of the gowns/tuxedo etc. Beatrice looks very beautiful. Tatiana looks like she belongs to the Addams family spoof serie. All the earings really nice.
Has anyone thought that perhaps something went wrong with injectables with Princess Charlene and that perhaps she just cannot smile that her face is numb? In the second last photograph she looks really odd almost frozen

Earrings fantastic, hair and make up nice.

Like Caroline's look and Beatrice as well. Not keen on Charlene's sister-in-law - the one who isn't Tatiana.
