  1. Megan looks lovely!
I love the top and I love the skirt but just not in those colours together. A crisp white shirt that she is so good at wearing, or the same top in white or cream would have looked very nice as well. But this is a minor quibble.
Otherwise she looks healthy and happy and I'm happy for them both as well.

  2. The straggly pieces of hair in the front do not look nice. The outfit does though.

    1. Agree. There are no way because she really likes the sloppy pieces.

    2. Agreed. Those whiskers make her really messy. Too much of the colour burgundy too.

  3. I think this outfit is so much better than what she's been wearing recently. More structured outfits just look better on the Duchess. I do kind of think the colors clash a bit but overall I like this outfit. And I think her hair looks great with this outfit. DMP

  4. Hopefully my comment doesn't start so much controversy as last time...
Wonderful colour on Meghan and a very nice and becoming hairstyle! Only the neckline is a bit too deep for my taste.

    1. I thought the exact same thing Rosalyn. Definitely much more well put together and she has a great eye for colors too, especially the shoes and sweater.

    2. Actually I am going to amend this. I just read her leather skirt comes in a camel color and I think that would have been way more amazing with these shoes & sweater as the skirt’s red seems a bit off. The rest I still agree amazing color.

  5. She is one of the few people that look really gorgeous with her hair either scraped straight back or with a centre path. Why oh why the rediculous loose wisps of side hair. It spoils an otherwise really very nice casual outfit with beautiful makeup.

    3. That is her 'go to' hair style. I have never liked it but it's a bit better than when she wears her hair long and loose and always has to shove it out of her face. I think that she, like Brigitte Macron, want to look younger than their age.

    4. Show me a woman who wouldn't want to look younger than her years... :-) And she IS young still. Victoria, who is a couple of years older than Meghan, is often accused of dressing like an elderly lady. And as for M:me Macron, I thinks her style is refreshing.

    5. to Anonymous 11.27 pm - She is young, and in many pictures she does look younger than her age and seems to be in her late twenties or early thirties. When she has her parted in the middle and severely pulled back, she reminds me of that other American divorcee, Wallis Simpson, for whom Edward VIII abdicated the throne in 1936, and because of it, Prince Albert (Bertie), the Duke Of York, became King George VI, and the rest, as they say, is history.

  6. I think the Duchess looks lovely. The color of the skirt is not an exact match to the pullover and her shoes, but I find the combination attractive. Her makeup is perfect and she seems to glow. As usual, her jewelry is very modest. The stray wisps of hair seem to be fashionable although I find them a bit distracting. She and Harry look very happy to be at the event. I wish them well.

  9. A deep neckline is, for an an occasion like this, too deep in my opition (and this has nothing to do with royal or not, just with the occasion, the Duchess of Wessex had something like this the other day in Kosovo, also out of context). This has nothing to do with royal or not. - The hair thingies: why have them at all, when you know your pictures will be found everywhere in the media... they are simply a disturbance for the overall impression you make. A messy bun is at the back of your head, does not disturb anything. But these "messy hairswhisps" are ... well, just that, wholly unrelated large chunks of hair dangling on both sides of your face. ("Unrelated" in the sense of: Not part of a unified overall hairstyle). She ruins with them her main communication asset in a public appearance, the impression her face is making. She also had them on her wedding day, but they were at least not so dominant and big.

    1. I think that's exactly the idea of the bold combination. It surely ia not a conventional combination but it works. As did the blue shoes with the purple dress the other day -- or a red jacket with the very same purple dress last winter.

  15. The skirt fits well but the shades of red are off. I like her hair up like this and don’t mind the pieces down. There are only pictures of her playing with her hair when she is outside so maybe it is windy.

  16. I agree with some of the previous posts regarding the too low neckline and the shades of red that seem to clash in my eye. I do not care for the messy wisps of hair. They remind me of the mother on an episode of an American show, "Little House on the Prairie." The mother had to work in the field all day since the father was gone and when she came in that evening her hair was disheveled and messy. If hair is worn up, I think Victoria and Sophie do a nice job of showing a tidy, attractive style. On the positive, I like the shoes and the skirt is a pretty shade. It also looked very good on Letizia yesterday.

  17. Same skirt that Letizia was wearing in S Korea. I like both pieces, and the combination of color, but I don't like how it fits her figure, the skirt looks very high on the waist, and the tucked sweater doesn't help either, perhaps a top right below the waistline would have looked better. I like messy buns, and I don't dislike her hair when is down, but this updo is not very well executed, it looks OK when she is facing the camera, but not so good from the sides.

What I don't like is the hairstyle, she had much betters before.

  21. I think her messy hair style is ridiculous för her age and I dont know why she thinks it looks good.Because she is always touching it.At the wedding I thought naively that she had lost a hair pin and that why her hair was slightly messy.

  22. Love the shoes best but also like the skirt and sweater and don't mind the contrasting reds but agree that the tucked in sweater is not flattering at all---with her current body shape I think it would have looked better worn over the skirt After seeing the straggly long hair at her last couple of events, I think the messy bun is the lesser of two evils and does suit her.

    2. Her tonal dressing and simple jewelry do not take attention away from the event. A great start to their new project. Including Harry is a wise choice. Having men in the room puts them in a position to better understand the issue.
If you have nothing good to say, the polite thing to do is to refrain. Perhaps nursing/breastfeeding bras do not offer the structure that you would like, but there are other reasons for her clothing choices. Her type of hair does not fall into the wash-and-go category as has been explained many times in this blog. ...and the attitude of the press is bul*ying and disgraceful. -Anna

  24. I love tonal dressing so this looks great to me. I think the sweater might look better untucked as D. Meghan seems to be short waisted. I like the hairstyle too, it’s kind of fun and retro. Her makeup is lovely too, very natural. (V.M.)

  36. I think there are more royal watchers than fashionistas on this fashion blog. To wear a monochromatic look, it is much more interesting for the pieces to be in the same color family, not matchy-matchy. The colors of Meghan's outfit are very successful together. I think she is wearing the skirt at her natural waist, and the deep v of the sweater makes her waist look even higher than it is. Waistslines are going up, so she should adjust her tops accordingly. I am surprised we are still debating Meghan's hair. Her messy bun is a style, as are the loose wisps. Not everyone has to like how she wears her hair, but it is youthful and fashionable (and has been for several years).

    ReplyDelete

    1. The problem with the wisps is not so much that they are there. They are simply not made/applied well. They are part of the overall appearance, so I think it is appropriate to talk about hair as well. --Ann.

    1. A simple skirt and sweater for a semi formal meeting are now considered Hollywood? Many women wear this combination in fall and winter, and did not know that they have 'gone Hollywood'. Hollywood has become a filler word replacing a lack of vocabulary to explain why the look is not suitable. -Anna
