  1. Mary looks superb!! Just stellar. And Jetsun Pema's beautiful updos during these festivities are worthy of note -- she has a wonderful hairdresser. Victoria's makeup is gorgeous and her hair looks good; the busy print on her dress, unfortunately, draws attention from her lovely face here.

  2. Ok, so from what I can see, Mary wins it again (maybe this is why Maxima looks grumpy…) Victoria's dress would have been ok if it was not for this horrible thing around her neck! The Bhutan couple is stunning, as usual.

  3. My mistake! The pattern on Victoria's dress is embroidery, not a print. And thinking about it, imo if the embroidery were in a muted gold, the effect might be really beautiful without looking busy.

    1. Maybe it's because King Willem wouldn't let her wear that cabbage on her head again.
      O.K., yes, I know, it's not a nice comment but I couldn't resist it.

    5. And laugh we must. But seriously, it's not the type of event where one promotes the latest hybrid cabbage from the hot houses of Holland .... is it?

    1. Max does seem to be in a bit of funk, doesn't she? Both clothes and mood. Hope everything is okay and she's not feeling "it" right now.

CP Mary looks superb yet again. Love her accessories and choice of jewellery. Queen Maxima, would have loved to see a full length pic of her outfit.

  9. Wow! Crown Princess Mary has done it again. She looks absolutely stunning. She has this aurora about her that most of the royals cannot touch. She is in a class of her own... Her beauty, her confidence and intelligence is so obvious. Has anyone else besides me noticed the expression on his face. His jacket is in a mess and he looks like he has me one to many trips to the bar. Still he and Crown Princess Mary are my favorites!

  11. Mary looks amazing. I wish there was a better shot of Jetsun Pema. Her traditional dress looks stunning. I like Maxima's hair styled that way- down but not off her face. I like the color of her jumpsuit?? I wish Victoria had lost the bow.

  12. The women all look appropriate and lovely. Nice to see Empress M, wearing a different style skirt, though the jacket and shoes don't really go with the skirt, I'm just happy, that she is happy, after such a tiring few days! Love CP Victoria's dress, the material and the color. It suits her well! .... JT

  13. PS: I meant to say CP Victoria's blue dress/shoes outfit, lovely shade of blue/gray.... JT ... I liked her gown the evening before, not quite sure why the scarf was added, but she looked lovely as usual.

Southernbelle, that's for sure! I'm glad for her, that she's finally, the empress.

    3. Out of all of the pictures, the one of Empress Masako was the best for me. It was amazing that the camera caught Empress Masako's unbridled joy. Usually the Japanese royal women usually show restraint in their expressions. I think she is going to be a different type of Empress. Her personality is going to come through.

  15. CP Mary's two dresses are terrific! But, it's too bad that the color of shoes she choose. It is completely not outstanding. She can have better choice!

  16. Oh wow, new photos have been added - of the tea party. I wish they were put on a separate post as many people who had already commented could miss seeing them.
I really quite like all the new outfits: Mary's dress is very beautiful, the colour and fabric of Victoria's is fantastic and Maxima looks smart and has the correct hair style for that suit. However, I really like Masako's look. It is so refreshing to see her in a skirt so different from her usual IHA style and really quite chic. The jacket could have been better, it is too heavy and a bit bulky compared to the skirt. However she looks very happy, conversational, and is laughing a lot. I'm very happy for her and wish the very best to both her and the Emperor as they embark on this new chapter of Japan's history.

PS Wish we could have seen some photos of their daughter over the past 2 days. I'm sure it must have been a momentous time for her as well to see her parents ascend the throne, even though the throne may not be in her future, sadly.

  17. CPss Mary...loved all of her outfits and styling. She has great body and always looks so elegant and well dressed. My favorite of the European royal ladies.
The Queen of Bhutan...what a stunning woman. Loved her hairstyles and also those national clothes look very beautiful and colorful.
Maxima in a jumpsuit...what was she thinking? At least the color and cape looked good. Her sleek hairstyle was lovely.
Victoria...when did she become so boring and predictible? And ALL of her outfits were repeats. Only her Escada dress was good to see again but everything else, tableclothes and illfitting.

As always CP Mary looks superb. I prefer the second dress she wore. Stunning, very feminine and pretty. She always has beautiful accessories and jewellery.

  21. Victoria is the best dressed here in my opinion. The blue dress looks just fantastic, the colour is perfect.
The other dress is also, very, very lovely, but please.. throw away this bow..

  22. Didn't realise that there were more events and more stunning outfits Agree with Anon 10 09 that Mary is in a class of her own. Both dresses are fantastic. I also like Maxima's outfits--I didn't realise that the evening one was a jumpsuit so will continue to like it, especially the cape. I love her day dress and jacket--just gorgeous. Would happily wear this myself. I'm least keen on Victoria's outfit--the evening outfit is fine , though I don't like the scarf but the day dress is unnecessarily fussy and not a great colour for the Crown Princess.
