This ist a private birthday party so MM is entiteled to wear what she likes. With those legs it would be a pity not to show them. Why do women always want to tell other women what is "age appropriate" and how they do have to dress, wear their hair, and so on?? Wouldn't it be better to celebrate that women at every age are beautiful and are proud on their assets?

Anonymus 7.23 pm: I totally agree with you. Mette Marit has great legs and a nice figure, so she can war this. Often she wears dresses in a little house of prairie style she seems bigger in it as her body is. This white dress suits her so fine.

  5. Lovely photo of Mette-Marit. Love her shoes. She has looked really well in all the photos of her this summer so here's hoping that her health problems are well under control. She and Haakon are such a nice couple.

The dress, with the colorful whimsical shoes, looks very good on the princess. A colorful necklace or a brooch would have been nice. Her smile is beautiful.

  7. This is a fun party dress and looks great on MM. I see that 80s shoulders are making a return. Wouldn't think that shape would work on MM, but it does. Love the rainbow shoes for a party.

Agree. And white is really her color!

  8. She looks fabulous - some people really look great in pure white. The shoes are fun and a nice contrast with the plain colour of the dress.

Today's look for CPss MM is very nice. She is tan'd and looks healthy. The dress is a bit too short for a women in her 40s OMO do love the shoes.

  10. I saw pictures on another page, and she has really beautiful legs. So, for a summery fun-event (and summertime is so short): YES to this lovely dress and funny shoes!!

  11. MM is really beautiful on this pictures! Wonderful dress, yes, a bit short but why not, for me royals can make that choice too from time to time, specialy on private events. And beeing over 40 make no limits to that!

  12. Is it not a bit old fashioned to think one's age - it's year 2019? 40 is still young. I'm over 60 but wear still short dresses, because I can. Mette-Marit looks very good here and white really is very becoming to her.

    1. I tend to think that it's not so much an age thing as a do you still have legs for it thing. So if you're 105 and you feel comfortable showing your legs go for it. There are occasions where it might not "appropriate" (hate that word) attire but I think a summer party with friends is absolutely fine. She looks great.

  14. Mette-Marit does look great here; for me the skirt-length works for the event (private summer b'day party) but it doesn't work with the giant shoulders, which put the dress's proportions out of whack. Love the shoes!!

She is happy - I´m glad for her.

  16. I like her in white, and this dress is fun and cute. I see no issue with the skirt length. However, I see major issues with the fit of the upper part of the dress. The sleeves look utterly wrong on her, they are not meant to look puffy, they are not meant to be tight around the upper arms, and her chest looks just sad. I´m sorry to say this, but she needs clothes that fit her. And she needs a better posture.
Her lovely smile is great to see, she seems so genuine, and I think her hair looks beautiful.

  17. The dress is meant as an A-line silhouette, no marked waist at all.
MM looks as if it took at least 4 people to stuff her into that dress, no good fit at all. The huge shoulders and the short skirt are disproportional and she definitely needs better undergarments. Except for the colour a miss for me.
