Belgian Royals attended the fireworks performed for 2019 National Day

On the evening of July 21, 2019, Belgian Royal family, that is, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, Crown Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Princess Eleonore and Prince Emmanuel attended the fireworks performed for a celebration of Belgian National Day 2019 in Brussels. (During the evening event, Queen Mathilde wore an aurora print silk dress by Diane von Furstenberg, which she had worn a few times in the past. Crown Princess Elisabeth wore a new floral print short cocktail dress by Zimmermann.)

I like the queen's dress - from what we can see on the model at least. I like Elisabeth's too, but I find it too short.

    1. Too short? No matter who she is, she is still a teenager... why should not she wear dress in this length? I think it is still ok.

    2. I think it is short, but not too short for a lovely young girl like her!

    3. Agree, another Elisabeth. Sometimes she dresses very mature and grown-up, but when she was last time with her father (wearing blue and white) she was dressed way more her age.

    4. I agree with both 'verdicts'. Elisabeth's dress is definitely too short and venturing dangerously close to nightgown territory. Mathilde looks wonderful. I also like how her dress subtly picks up the national colours, which seems perfect for the national das concert.

Reply to Janillka - My comment had nothing at all to do with who she is. Yes, she is a teenager, and her dress is certainly not as short as quite a few teenagers in the news, but it's that, to me, she is exposing too much of what looks like very nice legs.

  3. Both dresses are quite nice, neither too short, nor too long, interesting patterns, colors and very pretty.

  5. I'd love to see a full-length view of Mathilde's dress; in the photo above, it looks sensational. The pictures of the model indicate a design and color scheme that could be very flattering.

    1. I remember the Queen's dress from another time she wore it. It was so lovely from the front, but the back of the bodice was not made correctly. The print was misplaced - very awkward for such a nice dress otherwise. Nobody else seemed to notice.

  6. Like the look of both these dresses. The Queen's looks gorgeous on the model but hope we'll see more photos later. Like Elisabeth's dress too. It is short but she's young so it's suitable for someone her age and secondly the style is such that it looks okay when she's seating. Great shoes again

  9. I like queen Mathilde's dress on the model ; shame not to see it on her.
Princess Elisabeth's dressses for 2019 National Day are pretty but not suitable for her age. This one is too short.

  10. I think both the Queen and Princess Elisabeth look great. Love the striking pattern on Mathilde's dress. The length of Elisabeth's dress is fine for me - she's 17 and it isn't as short on her as it is on the model. I don't understand what people have against short dresses - she isn't dressed for the beach and it's perfectly dignified when she sits down. I think overall she dresses very well given her role and her age - difficult sometimes to keep a happy balance for the two.

  13. Elizabeth is young and should be allowed to dress like a girl her age. Her dress is not too short, but it would be on someone older. It is important to remember that these kids do not choose a royal life, they are born into it. They need to have as many normal experiences without interference and judgement as possible. I would love to see more of Mathilde's dress. I like it on the model.

  14. onze Koningin is mooi in deze outfit, evenals Elisabeth er prachtig uit ziet. Ook Filip blijft altijd een mooie man, en heeft nog een volle haardos-hier mee heeft hij geluk.

  15. Her dress isn't too short. Stop telling women our dresses are too short. For whom?? It's 2019 and if women want to show more leg they can. That means absolutely nothing that they want to. Doesn't matter if she's young or old, women can wear what they want, royal or not.
