ردحذفHer face is lovely but she needs a new hair style. I think it was Anna Wintour who said a woman should choose her hair style that best suits her by age 50. I hope this is not what Sophie has chosen.

I really appreciate Sophie Wessex for representing the royal family with dignity and genuineness, and she looks fabulous when she "gets it right". I can't like this drab, lumpy outfit, though. It looks a bit like camo, just not as colorful.
ردحذفNot a fan, this pattern sort of reminds me of military desert pattern, the silhouette it's too bulky and she seems engulfed by a sea of fabric. Not her best look.

ردحذفI hate not liking Sophie's clothes, but I just don't care for them most of the time. With her hair and skin tone, she looks so much better in color. Most neutral colors will wash her out. So often Sofie is swallowed by fabric, and her preference for longer hemlines is aging her. She looks her best in sillouettes that are more fitted, showing her figure. Even the Queen shows more leg than Sophie does. I would love to see her wear her hair down more often because it softens her look. She has been such an asset to the BRF, and this seems to be the one and only area she has any missteps.
ردحذفSo agree, Chardonn8r. You covered it! Sophie is truly lovely and it pains me to say anything negative. A poster above said this dress swallowed her. But she is still beautifully groomed and poised.

ردحذفI like this dress. I think the pattern is unique and the style is nice, esp with the pleated skirt part. It could be an inch or two shorter, but not a big deal for me. Her hair in the usual upsweep is very classy.
ردحذفI adore the Countess and love her work and and almost everything she wears, but this outfit is the wrong style for her. I think would look much better as a jumpsuit... somewhere in a desert combat zone.
ردحذفI admire Sophie so much for the overflowing load of duties she has taken on. So I don't like to throw out a criticism. But here it is -- really do not like the shirt part of this outfit. Most unflattering to say the least. I don't like the fit on Sophie, the print nor the style. (Was surprised when I saw it was a Victoria Beckham. Does not speak well of the label.) I do like the style of the skirt and with a differently styled solid top in a coordinating color, it would work.
ردحذفThis print looks like toile. It is something different and very British. Not every appearance by these ladies should be long on glam and short on substance. That said it looks more suited to a dressage type event. Sophie seems like a genuine person. She gets a pass on this.

حذفIt's that staid type of style that older British women would wear with sturdy walking shoes when out and about in nature. Good for supervising the work in the stables or giving prizes at such an event. Toile is one of the earliest forms of creating a print on fabric. Some patterns are specific to certain countries.
حذفAs a British person I honestly have no clue what you mean - I've never seen anybody dressed like this for those kinds of events. I really haven't. And I haven't noticed my fellow Brits tripping around in toile prints.
حذفToile is generally found in more stately homes as wallpaper, upholstery and window treatments. It's the kind of fabric a designer is called in create the look. A few years ago the print crossed over into the apparel market. Victoria is trying to recreate the trend. حذفBut this print doesn't look like toile - it seems more abstract and rather unattractive. It would be a bit prettier if it was that kind of print although it's all a bit much and I think needs a plainer skirt or pair of trousers paired with it.

You were right...in terms of the print. A visit to Victoria's site describes it as 'disruptive camouflage'. Your eyesight is waaaay better than mine, since the repeat looked like trees. As for the style of dressing, the Queen herself wears .... never mind. Again you are right about the print.
حذفNot loving this outfit - don't especially like the print and don't especially like so much of it. It might have been better just as the top part.

Only Victoria Beckham (or someone as thin as she is and with her attitude) can pull off this ‘look’. She often has this cut in multiple colourways. And they are ment to be oversized. But I think they only work for women of a certain body type, and even for them it only does in block colours. When you add a heavy pattern like this, it’s too much.
ردحذفNot sure what’s wrong with her hairdo. I agree with those who quipped that it’s aging Sophie and looks quite severe. Maybe wearing her hair loose doesn’t feel comfortable for her. Whilst it looks professional, it just doesn’t fit the image i have of Sophie. Maybe a change in hair salons would offer her some fresh perspectives.
