On January 23, 2019, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain attended opening of 39th International Tourism Fair (FITUR) held at Juan Carlos I Park in Madrid. FITUR is a global meeting point for tourism professionals and Ibero American markets. This year's guest of honour of the fair is Dominican Republic with the slogan "Lo tiene todo" (It has everything). (The Queen wore a new check wool skirt by Massimo Dutti). |
What a beautiful blouse! Gorgeous. (Even though the sleeves are a shade too long -- but in this period of crazy-long sleeves, who knows whether this was intentional?). The skirt, however, seems all wrong. The plaid, the jagged hemline, and something about the way the skirt hits the waistline just do not work with the romantic, soft lines of the blouse.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Jane Chantal.
ReplyDeleteIn my humble opinion a rare fashion-fail of Queen Letizia from head to toe. What happenend here? Boring and grey, not to mention the hemline...
ReplyDeleteI don't like the blouse or the skirt , at least paired together. The shoes seem wrong with the skirt. The whole look is boring.
ReplyDeleteThis skirt is the best piece of today's outfit. Looking at a close up, the design of the skirt is quite intricate. It is made up of about 7 pieces of fabric. It would probably benefit from having a lining, and for the plaids to line up at the waist. It defines her shape and shows enough of her legs to make it interesting. A sweater set may be a good choice at it's next appearance. Picture #4, with or without photoshop she looks beautiful today.
ReplyDeleteThe blouse is really nice but a wool sweater is a better choice for this skirt.
DeleteAgreed!
DeleteI like every single piece separately. This skirt can be combined with a soft woolen sweater in a multitude of fall/ winter colors, rust, pumpkin, green moss, cranberry and even a lavender or violet. Boots on a ver light grey, or bootie type shoes, and some rather substantial modern earrings. I love the blouse, so delicate that it gets lost with the skirt. Not a fail IMO, just not greatly executed .

ReplyDeleteAgree!!!
DeleteYour observations are spot on!
DeleteNote the lady wearing the HB jacket also worn by RL in Mexico.
ReplyDeleteI have a similar skirt from about 10 years back. Maybe I should put it back in rotation!
ReplyDeleteI agree it would look better with a soft sweater.
Letizia's clothes seem to be more conservative and low-key lately.
Sorry Angie but I don't like anything I see on the photo today.
DeleteBeautiful Queen Letizia's face on picture # 4
