Japanese Imperial Family attended the New Year's ceremony

On January 1, 2019, traditional 2019 New Year ceremony was held at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Emperor Akihito, Empress Michiko, Crown Prince Naruhito, Crown Princess Masako, Prince Akishino, Princess Kiko of Akishino, Princess Mako, Princess Kako and other members of the imperial family attended the New Year's ceremony. (Crown Princess Masako attended the greeting ceremony from the heads of government for the first time after a period of 16 years).

    Lovely. Every Pss wears the standard dress but the Tiaras and the rest of the jewels are great. CP Masako looks lovely she looks healthy and happy. Happy New Year.

    beautiful pics. CP Masako looks wonderful, so happy to see her attending. im looking forward to welcoming her as the new Empress of Japan later in the year.

    3. Marie, a mon age, 83 ans, on peut me pardonner de dire s'emmerder au lieu de s'ennuier. Mais au moins leurs vies privees ont l'air d'etre exemplaires, contrairement a bien des princesses europeennes

  5. You never see the Japanese Imperial ladies' shoulders, but the lady at the end of the line is bucking the dress code!

    1. Yes, I'd sure like to know what that's about...maybe something got spilled on her cream-colored gown and the blue was an emergency replacement? (That could explain the rather grumpy facial expression.)

  6. Empress Michiko's gown is sooooo lovely. She has such a distinctive style of dressing, so graceful.

    Masako looks vibrant and beautiful.

  10. The ladies (bar the one in blue - which is just odd) all look like they are attending a debutante ball. The Empress looks lovely as does the Crown Princess.
