Queen Maxima christened Van Oord’s new ship, the Vox Amalia

On December 14, 2018, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands christened Van Oord’s new trailing suction hopper dredger, the Vox Amalia in Rotterdam. The ship was built in Spain for Van Oord. The ship is the first of two new midsize trailing suction hopper dredgers built for Van Oord. Its twin, the Vox Alexia, will be completed early next year.

  1. A bit overdressed for the occasion? Perhaps.
Smart and with a Queens presence? Always.

    1. To me it looks "overdressed" for the event, in several respects. I think she does not need this dressing up to appear as a queen.

    2. Yes, overdressed.

  2. The hat has a certain aesthetic flexibility that would allow it to be dressed up or down. So, I say yes to the hat with the coat, *or* yes to the hat with the dress, but no to all three together. The dress is dynamite (and she wears this chartreuse-y yellow well), but I think it would have looked better with a simple wrap.

    1. It was freezing today, the hat and coat add necessary warmth! She looks like a queen.

  3. Beautiful dress and coat not to forget the hat. Very nice for this event.

  4. Like all three elements --it's a very Maxima outfit ---but agree their a bit overpowering together. The draped coat is annoying. If you are not going to put your arms in the sleeves, then wear a shawl or a cape. I also think the dress is too short--noticeable when she's sitting down. Having said all that, I still like it!

  5. I cannot get to like those stiff shiny fabrics that Natan always uses..... otherwise it looks fine.

  6. No a fan of the stuff fabric but she certainly stands out and kudos to her bcos even while dressed in such bright clothes, it is she you look at, not her clothes.

  8. I love Maximas strong personal sense of style. She looks great with her very bold clothes, because they are reflecting her personality.

  12. Queen Maxima looks lovely.Keep your dredgers to yourself;they suck up all the fish plus extras and ruin the sea bed;not very environmental.

  13. Once again Maxima is wearing an ill suited dress and hat. But hey she's smiling so all is forgiven. Isn't the ship named Amalia? shouldn't she have been there too?
