Norwegian Royal Family attended the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony

On December 10, 2018, Norwegian King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended The 2018 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony held at Oslo City Hall. The Nobel Peace Prize 2018 was awarded jointly to Congolese gynecologist Denis Mukwege, and Yazidi human rights activist Nadia Murad, for their efforts to prevent the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war.

Do you know you often make unpleasant remarks about women's weight and what clothes are supposed to look like. MM looks lovely here.

Sorry, but Marina is right. Some dresses doen't look good on big women, so what?

    3. It's not about being unpleasant and not about someone's weight. It's about looking your best when all the eyes are on you, and this dress doesn't make her look her best.

All eyes were on the nobel laureates. Can you not express you opinion about tailoring and fashion without such constant negativity. I've been reading this blog for years and you are one of the least diplomatic commentators and it is getting tiresome to read.

    5. Agree, Marina. It's not the worst look but it's not flattering. Apart from the horizontal split, I'm not sure that shade of biscuit brown does her any favours. However, I do love the hat. M-M so rarely wears anything more than a fascinator or hairband. This is elegant and lovely on her.

    6. Marina, I agree with you: lovely dress, beautiful woman, but they should not go together... You did not made a'n unpleasant remark, you are right...

Marina isn't wrong or right and she is entitled to a view but she certainly has a rude and outmoded way of expressing her opinions about how the women on this site look!

What makes Marina's comment unpleasant is that it implies a view about MMs figure and that her dress should never have been chosen by her as she does not have certain physical characteristics. The abruptness of the comment is unpleasant as is the implied sneering at MMs figure.

    9. Don't know if anonymous comments above are one and the same person but there is o trace of unpleasantness or rudeness that I can see in marina's comments. As previously stated the age and size (height as well as width!)of the wearer matter in the overall appearance of an outfit and it is perfectly reasonable to comment when commenting on the overall outfit. I chuckled at the idea of a comment being outmoded-one of the great things about this site is that there are people from so many different backgrounds, many obviously writing in a language that is not their mother tongue. If that is criticised that would be rude.

    10. Comments about a person's body are NOT acceptable. It is body shaming. There are definitely styles that look better on different body types, but pointing out body deficiencies (as you see them) is wrong.

CP Mette Marit, that's not my favorite dress for you. Not bad not good, but I always like her warmhearted smile

Nice dresses, very appropriate for the occation. And MM wears a hat!

  6. This is a no for me. It reminds me of a monk's cloak (or at least the ones they wear in the movies.) The waist detailing is lovely, as are the pleats, but the white top/shoulder part ruins it. I'm also getting really tired of the pillbox (is that the correct name) hats.

It was nice that she was able to attend the events today, though.

Also, I didn't realize Queen Sonia was fluent in French. (During Dr. Mukwege's speech, she was the only one who didn't use the translation earpiece. Brava for her!)

No no! What is MM wearing? That dress is terrible.

  9. This dress is a NO for me, shortens and widens the figure, brown is a beautiful color but difficult to wear when is not the right hue. Looks a little better on the models, but not great either

I love MM dearly and I like that dress too, but not both together. That style is not the best choice for her.

  13. I looked back at the photos and thought about others' comments, I do like the color of MM's dress but think the white across the whole shoulder line is too much. She is broad-shouldered and this emphasizes that so much. White as a V-neck insert or a bib would have been a nicer touch. The hat was an interesting idea but it makes her look like a nun for some reason. Maybe a different design? The queen looks classy, as usual, and their color choice, MM's and the queen's, are in harmony.

    1. Totally agreed with your comment, a v neck would be perfect for the princess and a couple of inches in both sides. On the other hand, a very emotional moment, this is a very important cause worldwide. God bless them.

  21. I would like a comment from the blog's moderator, please. Was I offensive? I am sorry if my comment(s) was(were) viewed as unpleasant and sneering. I did not express an assessement or opinion on the person, it was an opinion on the dress. This blog is about fashion and style, and style is also about good fit and making person look their best. All the royal ladies, like all of us, are different( heights, constitution, etc.) When we try on something, we can see whether it does something for us or not. Being well dressed is part of the royal ladies' job, and they have help and means to be well dressed. They can customize models they like and they can have best tailoring as well. All of them are doing wonderful and worthlike things, having lots of obligations and being daugthers, wives, mothers and grannies as well. My comments never reflect on that, or on their merits. I think it's a great pity when their choice of clothes is a miss and I try to explain why it's a miss, in my opinion.

  23. I really like MM's dress. I don't like the colors on her because she has such a fair complexion and it washes her out. I think it was designed for a darker complected woman. It would have been nice to see this in another color.
