  1. Princess Madeleine looks amazing. So niCe to see her and that hair is wonderful. Nice dress on Sofia but she should have ditched those shoes, the queen looks very elegant. The crown princess looks........ very December appropriate.

  2. Queens Silvia looks very nice, what is the pin she is wearing...? Sofia looks pretty, but a bit out of place for a seminar? V and M are doing the Little House on the Prairie theme, not my cup of tea. Victoria, please get rid of this bag that looks like something you would get if you buy at least two products from Clarins in one go...

Oh, I just love all the dresses, and it's so good to see Madeleine, and Chris. Why are Madeleine & Chris only in the 1st photograph, or is it just a coincidence

  4. Wow, Sophia looks breath taking. Love her style.
Madeleine is a beauty, but I don't like this dress.

  6. Madeleine's wearing the MM dress I dislike! (Also, I hate saying this, but it looks better on Madeleine because it looks like it fits.) Silvia looks lovely. Estelle remains angelic.

  7. Madeleine is so beautiful! Nice to have the family home and especielly nice for Silvia to have the whole family home now on the birthday and on Christmas. All ladies looks great but especieally Madeleine and Sofia, i like her red dress. It suits her very well.

  8. They all look good - but the star is Estelle! Such a wonderful little girl!

  9. Queen Sylvia looks the best here... nice style, fabric, cut and colour. P. Madeleine looks lovely too, and she wears that Erdem dress very well. It looks good on her. Funny, we saw MM wearing it just a few weeks ago too.

  10. Sofía looks fantastic, love the fit, color and specially the length, I also like that she is wearing those great red shoes, miles away from the boring black or nude pumps. Silvia also look very elegant, and the color is very flattering.
I don't like either Madelaine's or Victoria's dresses, not to say that they are horrible, and I enjoy a good print, but these are just matronly.

  11. Silvia - what a wonderful outfit. That colour, that fit, that brooch.
Carl Gustaf - he is one of the best dressers amongst royal men and always wears well-fitted suits. His pocket square here is on the large side, but that´s not dramatic.
I see a huge difference in fit comparing his and Daniel´s suits, especially with their arms held in the back, which they both often do.
Regarding the princesses - nice, polished outfits. Madeleine takes the win here, her dress is very similar to Victoria´s but has the better neckline and a belted, defined waist. Floral dresses need structure and something for the eye to rest on, or you´ll look like you´re drowning in a meadow.
Sofia´s dress is nice, but with that length (and especially with those shoes) it´s evening material. I agree that she looks slightly out of place. Both Sofia and Madeleine have a lot of make-up on.

    1. Agree, Silvia is the win for me. Madeleine's dress is much better than Victoria's and Sofia's dress and shoes are out of place at this event.

  12. Silvia and Sofia look both very good. I am no fan of those floral back to prairie dresses, so they are no. Although Madeline looks other way very beautiful.

  13. Love Sofia's dress!! Red is just her color. She looks lovely. So nice to see Madeline. Not so much her dress. Silvia looks wonderful. That color is lovely on her!!!

-masy. Victoria ... I really dont like the dress. At all. Sofia looks good. The dress looks better from the front and worst from the side. But a good dress! Madeleine looks amazing but I dont get this summer dress in december in sweden.... Not apropriate at all.
    Estelle looks angelic. Soooo nice.

Why is the king always looks angry at this family events?? Its like he doesnt even want to be there.

    1. I've no idea what the King is like in reality but he always looks grumpy to me. The few things I have heard are not really to his advantage but I don't know if they're true or just tabloid gossip.

      Delete
    2. Franny, as far as I know the king wanted to deny the throne to Victoria - because she is a girl! They should have thrown (haha, I am trying a play on words) him out!

    3. When the succession rights in Sweden were changed, Victoria became the crown princess, and at the same time her younger brother was no longer the crown prince. The children were very young at the time and had no understanding of this yet, so the change in legislation went ahead. It is often said that the king wanted to deny Victoria the throne and that he favoured his son to become the heir. This is not true. King Carl Gustaf was not against the change in succession rights, but he said that he felt it was wrong to apply the change to the royal children already born and to thus reshuffle titles already given. So his point was that this change should have been made before the first child was born, or be applied first to the next generation. People see the (admittedly) often grumpy face of the king and are quick to repeat the gossip of Carl-Gustaf favouring his son over his daughters. But this is nothing but gossip. He has said repeatedly that Victoria was doing a wonderful job as the crown princess and that he had full confidence that she will be a great regent when her time comes.

    4. However, it really breaks my heart how angry he is looking. Hopefully they had a relaxed atmosphere later on.

    5. It's note really that. When Victoria of sweden and Martha louise of Norway are born the law was that the heir was the first male. Like in every country. So when Carl philip is born he became the Crown prince of sweden. Few month after that the law changed. Carl Gustave didn't want to suppress the title to carl philip. He wanted to star the new law for the next generation (Estelle one). It's what they do in Norway. They change the law but Haakon stay the Crown Prince and it's Ingrid alexandra who become the first crown princess even if she has a brother.

    6. I dont know if its related to that. But if So, why cantora he be happy?? Is he that sexist?? I hope not. Honestly? Sweden would probably not have a monarchy if it wasnt for victoria's huge popularity. He should give Her thanks for it. She is a great woman.

      Delete
    7. Raquel; they have said really many times that today everybody is happy how things are. The story was like Vanessa wrote.

I am sure Carl Gustav is happy but many older people look grumpy even when they are not when gravity works to their face. Make me think my cat, a huge Norwegian one, who look all the time nasties grumpy one ever and is in fact a real people loving mild pussycat.

    8. The King is never comfortable in front of a large crowd of journalists and cameras. He is much more accommodating and smiley off camera in a relaxed setting. You can also notice that he never wants to stop for photos when he is walking into an event, where Silvia tends to slow down a bit to give the photographers a chance to a good pic. The King is very happy about all his children, no problems there.

    9. If it wasn`t for Queen Silvia, Sweden would not been a monarchy anymore. For the equal rights: the king wanted to spare Victoria the burden. He does not look so grumpy when talking to his wife. Makes me smile too.

      Delete
    10. ... he wanted "to spare Victoria the burden" but Carl Philip shall carry it?

      Delete
    11. Coralie, I don't think Carl Philip is favored over V&M. If anything, then Victoria as the heir is favored over her younger siblings. Victoria is everywhere. V&D's children are everywhere. V has the advantages her siblings don't have.
Now recent news was that we no longer see Carl Philip and Madeleine at the formal gathering of the Swedish Academy on 20 Dec. Why?? They were just pushed out. If Victoria is such a loving sister why she let her younger siblings treat like this??

That decision is taken by the king probably due to the recent scandals in the academy. This years they will not go. This year... Also Madeleine posts pictures of Her kids whenever she feels like it. And Sofia and CP'S kids were featured in viver of magazines recentely with Silvia! Adrienne was also there. Estelle and Oscar did not! CP and Madeleine will be 'pushed out' because its a monarchy. V will be queen and Her children are the new 'CP and Madeleine'. If CP, S and M want to be seen maybe they should start working more 😒

What u do want then to say? Of course now everyone is 'happy'. The king also said many times that the law shouldnt have changed. So u cant just believe because they say.

    13. @Coralie - yep, because Carl Philipp is a man...

    14. Well the way I understand how the royal family works is the only way Carl Philip and Sofia can work more is if the King says that they can. He controls the engagements and who does what and goes where. He also controls who gets paid for what and who gets reimbursed for expenses and clothes dealing with said engagements. Not Carl Philip or Madeleine. Or even Victoria at this point. It has been said before on this page as well as many other places that he decides what will be done, when, and by whom. Of course Madeleine and Chris are in Florida. So he has to plan for that. And I do believe that many members of the royal families do some of their own private engagements that one doesn't always hear about or that show up on the court calendar. But I don't think a lot of what happens in the royal family is completely up to the children. I did hear that the press is reporting the King did not want the whole family at the Swedish Academy as a direct result of what has been going on in the academy. I just read something on that. So he is the one who said that Carl Philip and Madeleine would not be there. He has that control. I think Victoria will always be front and center. Then Carl Philip and Sofia especially until Estelle and Oscar are old enough. Not sure about Madeleine to be honest. She really doesn't seem interested in engagements at this point.

    15. I think the Swedish royal family are happy about the way things are in the family. I think Victoria is doing a great job and sometimes I think Carl Philip and Madeleine are just happy they don't have to do it. Ha! It is a lot of work. I think all of the kids have plenty of money and are just happy with what they are doing and being able to be with their families and work doing what they like. And they all do work to benefit Sweden when the King requests them to. It looks like everyone is happy when they are together and everyone has a place.

  15. Queen Silvia looks good and Estelle is sweet. I don't mind these floral dresses that are around at the moment but Victoria does look a bit like a librarian on a night off. Madeleine looks ok but I personally find that skirt length a bit frumpy. Sofia is the winner for me - another royal lady who really rocks the red.

Yip, Mary M, Kansas, I also miss Madeleine at functions. And good luck to her, and her family to "shuttle," between the US, and Sweden. And I so hope that they're happy in America. And yes, I agree with all who like Sofia's dress, stunning!

  17. Madeleine looks gorgeous (and even after that very long plane ride from Miami) and glad to see her back with her family for the holidays and her mother's 75th birthday celebrations. I can't say I care for her dress -- one of my least favorite designers -- ERDEM. I do like Sofia's dress very much -- classic yet modern sophistication. All in all, a wonderful family!

  18. I love Sofia's red dress. She really stands out next to those dark prints Victoria and Madeleine are wearing. Glad to see Madeleine as I always like to see what she wears. I see the Erdem trend is still alive and well in the Swedish royal court.

  19. All five of the Royal Ladies look very nice.I must say I love everything about this red dress of Sofia's.Elegant and smart. The Queen looks so happy and she has reason to feel this way, the purple suit looks great on her. Victoria and Madleine look very nice.Must say the four men look good too. The nicest surprise was Estelle. Loved to see her there. Hopefully we get to see a picture with all 7 Grandchildren. Happy 75th Birthday to Queen Sivia of Sweden.

  20. I think some people just have very serious faces that make them look grumpy. I think little Oscar has inherited this face from his grandfather.

I know people with these faces and all of them are really nice. :)

  24. I love how the sisters are wearing similar comfortable-but-dressy outfits. Sofia has taken to wearing stand-out red lately, and here she is dressed too formally compared to the other ladies; her shoes don't go with the long skirt and look uncomfortable. Beautiful Madeleine, as always, looks superb. Nice to see Estelle at this event.

  25. They all look fab. Love Queen Silvia's outfit and Sofia's dress in particular (though I don't like these gorgeous shoes with this dress--it's too long for them) but can live with the florals of the other two---they've worn worse. It's great to see Princess Madeleine back with the family too. I have a real soft spot for the King--he has never been a smiley person, even in photos taken when he was much younger. Chris O'Neil is the same--rarely smiles in photos.

  26. Its wonderful to see Madeleine again. Missed her so much. She looks so beautiful 🌹🌹🌹 Love her ponytail and even floral dress looks great on her (because it fits I guess).
Sofia in red looks also lovely. Interesting to see her wear Estonian designer.
