  1. She looks like straight from the 70s - dress, hair and those chunky shoes.
Make the dress contemporary (lose the bows, the frilly neck, open the neckline) and I´m onboard. Not an ugly colour/pattern as such.

    1. The "chunky shoes" are wedged alpargatas or espadrilles, a type of footwear traditional in Spain, Southern France and in Latin America, formerly used by peasants and some fifty years ago glamourized by Yves Saint Laurent as fashionable summer footwear. Princess Sofía manages to summerize a rather autumnal dress by using alpargatas.

    2. Alright, I apologize in case you felt that I insulted traditional Spanish footwear (although I doubt that espadrilles (which I like!) traditionally came with wedge heels or significant platforms. It´s those high wedges that make the shoes chunky, and I stick to my verdict that they look 70s too me.
Traditional espadrilles are great, and I wear them often myself, but I´d use them in casual mode, not with a delicate and somewhat formal dress (as Sofia did here).
Also, now that the Lindex photo has been added, I must say that the dress looks a million times better with the high collar worn open. It allows the dress to breathe, and it instantly looks more contemporary.

  3. She looks lovely. Regarding her shoes: Wedeges and Espadilles are in. Queen Letizia wore two different pairs recently. Very stylish for Summer.

    1. I agree. Nothing is wrong with the shoes. She is outside in the nature high heels would have been an odd choice, so as flat shoes. I myself would have chosen espadrilles too.

    2. I also agree that the shoes are ok!Duchess Catherine and queen Letizia wear them as well. They are a nice summer option.

  4. Los de América Latina es muy común verlos cuando están en la casa:son a ras del suelo (no cómo estas), si trabajas en el campo en verano usas botas por víboras venenosas... etc, si lo usan mucho en españa

  5. There is nothing wrong/innapropriate with the shoes. The hole outfit seems great.

  6. She looks wonderful. Her espadrilles have been in for several years. And this may show those that doubt it, it really is alright to wear a darker color in the spring and summer months. She looks youthful and appropriate.
