Danish Crown Prince Family Will Visit Faroe Islands

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, together with their four children, pay an official visit to the Faroe Islands aboard the Royal Yacht Dannebrog the days of 23-26 August 2018. Prime minister of the Faroe Islands Aksel Vilhelmsson Johannesen hosts the visit. Crown Prince Couple will visit a number of towns and villages in the municipalities of Sunda, Runavíkar, Klaksvíkar, Fugloyar and Tórshavnar. The Faroe Islands are an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark.

Thursday, 23 August Arrival at Bursatangi
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, visit Tórshavn on Thursday, 23 August. The Crown Prince Couple participate in an official greeting ceremony on the quay, where the prime minister will deliver a speech welcoming them.

Visit at the rowing club Knørrur (09.35)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visit the rowing club Knørrur and get an introduction to the organization and Faroese boat racing.

Visit to the government buildings on Tinganes (09.55)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visit the government buildings on the peninsula Tinganes. During the visit, the Crown Prince Couple will be presented to the Faroese government.

Official reception by Tórshavn’s mayor (10.35)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary take part in an official greeting ceremony on the square called Vaglið in the city center. Tórshavn’s mayor, Annika Olsen, and Mr. Jacob Horn Nielsen welcome them and present the city council.

Visit at The School at Argjahmri (11.05)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visit The School at Argjahmri. During the visit, the Crown Prince Couple take part in a tour of the school, where the students will demonstrate various activities such as Faroese chain dancing, gymnastics and singing along the way.

Visit at the residence hall Finsen (12.15)
Finsen is a new residence hall in the Tórshavn city center. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visit there and get an introduction to Bústaðir. Finsen and one of the residences will be shown, and the visit concludes in the main hall, where well-known artworks by William Heinesen are displayed, and Ólavur Jacobsen will present a Kingo piece on classical guitar.

Luncheon (13.00)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary participate in a luncheon at Hotel Hafnia hosted by mayor Annika Olsen.

Visit at Glasir college (14.30)
Glasir is Thórshavn’s college that brings together a gymnasium, a technical school and a business school. HRH The Crown Prince visits the school and takes part in a tour. During the visit, scientific experiments will be presented, and the school’s educational programs will be presented.

Visit at the day-care center Býlingshúsið undir fjalli (14.30)
Crown Princess Mary visits the day-care center ​​​​​Býlingshúsið undir fjalli. During her visit, The Crown Princess will hear about the institution’s work with the project “Free of Bullying”, which is a project started by The Mary Foundation and Save The Children.

Visit at Sjóvinnuhúsið (15.20)
Crown Prince Frederik visits Sjóvinnuhúsið and gets an introduction, after which His Royal Highness visits Hugskotið, which is a unit that advises and helps entrepreneurs. During the visit at Hugskotið, the start-up entrepreneurs present their projects for The Crown Prince. The visit concludes with The Crown Prince awarding this year’s Faroese entrepreneur prize in the Creative Business Cup.

Faroese Parliament Speaker Páll á Reynatúgvu receives the Crown Prince Couple and presents the Faroese Parliament’s presidium and the Farose Parliament’s director, Johnhard Klettheyggj.

Banquet (19.15)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary participate in a banquet at The Nordic House. The prime minister hosts the dinner.

Friday, 24 August: Arrival at Klaksvik harbor
The Royal Yacht Dannebrog moors at the harbor in Klaksvík, where mayor Jógvan Skorheim and his wife, Vígdis Skorheim, receive the Crown Prince Couple.

Visit at Nólsoyar Páll’s farm (09.30)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visits a restored farm that was once leased by Faroese hero Nólsoyar Páll. The artist and project leader Archibald Black greets the Crown Prince Couple and tells about Nólsoyar Páll and the project with the farm.

Visit at the day-care center Ósalund (10.10)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visit Ósalund, where schoolchildren from Skúlanum á Skúlatrøð sing.

Visit at Norðoya Sparikassa (10.45)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visit Norðoya Sparikassi, a bank that celebrates its 100th anniversary next year. During the visit, the Crown Prince Couple will hear about the institution’s history, current work and plans for the future.

Visit and luncheon on Fuglov (12.15)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary arrive at the Faroes’ easternmost village, Hattarvík, on the island Fuglov. Mayor Amalia í Frammistovu greets the Crown Prince Couple and presents the village council. Afterwards, Their Royal Highnesses take part in a walking tour through the village, where the mayor will host a luncheon.

Visit in the village Mikladalur (15.30)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary arrive at the village Mikladalur on the island Kalsoy, which is part of Klaksvík Municipality. Mayor Jógvan Skorheim and his wife, Vígdis Skorheim, welcome the Crown Prince Couple, and afterwards there will be a visit to the house where the Seal Woman comes from. The Crown Prince Couple hear about the legend of the Seal Woman and get an introduction to the village.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary walk with the mayor to the statue of the Seal Woman. There, singer Ingibjørg Hansen, who grew up in the house where the Seal Woman comes from, will perform.

Saturday, 25 August: Official reception ceremony in Runavík (09.00)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary arrive at the harbor at Bakkafrost, where mayor Torbjørn Jacobsen and his wife, Ann Ellefsen, greet them.

Visit at the company Bakkafrost (09.25)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visit Bakkafrost, which is the Faroes’ largest salmon farming company.

Visit at the sports hall Bylgjan (10.15)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary visit the sports hall Bylgjan and meet the local sports organizations.

Luncheon (11.25)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary take part in a luncheon at Skótahúsið hosted by mayor Torbjørn Jacobsen.

Arrival at Hvalvik harbor (13.30)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary arrive at the harbor in the Faroese village Hvalvik on the east side of Streymoy. Here, the Crown Prince Couple will be received by mayor Heðin Zachariasen and his wife, Anna Maria Zachariasen.

Sailing tour under "The Streymin Bridge" (13.45)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary take part in a sailing tour to Haldórsvík. During the tour, they sail under “The Streymin Bridge”, which connects the Faroes’ two largest islands together. On the sailing tour, the Crown Prince Couple will see the Faroes’ highest waterfall Fossá and sail past the Marine Harvest salmon farm.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary arrive in Haldórsvík, where council member Elias Hammer, who was born and raised in Haldórsvík, will tell about the village.

Visit in the village Tjørnuvík (14.40)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary arrive in Tjørnuvík and are received in the village hall by mayor Heðin Zachariasen, who presents the Sunda Municipality council afterwards.

Walking tour through the village (15.00)
Crown Princess Mary takes part in a walking tour through the village. Along the way there are visits at, among other places, the Artists’ Residence and the village church.

Crown Prince Frederik visits the sea cliff Stakkurin.

Reception on the Royal Yacht (18.30)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary host a reception aboard the Royal Yacht Dannebrog in Tórshavn.

Award presentation (21.30)
Crown Prince Frederik and the prime minister participate together in the award presentation at Tórshavn’s stadium, Tórsvøllur, where the Faroese cup final in football takes place. After the match, The Crown Prince will present medals to the players.

Sunday, 26 August: Church service in Sandavágur (10.30)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary participate in a service at the church in Sandavági.

Luncheon (12.10)
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary take part in a luncheon at the old warehouse in the village Bøur, where bishop Jógvan Fríðriksson is the host, and they officially depart the Faroe Islands afterwards.

  3. They are only missing 2 days of school, may just take some school work with them and do it with the nanny while the parents go to some functions that don't include them.
