Queen Maxima visits Mumbai Dabbawalas Association

On the third day of her visit to India, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands met with Mumbai's dabbawalas (tiffin-box carriers) outside Andheri West station in Mumbai. The dabbawalas constitute a lunchbox delivery and return system that delivers hot lunches from homes and restaurants to people at work in India, especially in Mumbai. Earlier this month, the dabbawalas celebrated the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by distributing sweets to relatives of patients outside government hospitals. Afterwards, Queen Maxima attended a media briefing in Mumbai

Q Maxima really enjoys some of her overseas tours, this one is one of them. This Natan dress is very nice and understated Maxima looks wonderful in it

    1. lately. Her dresses have been simply lovely and appropiate, not over the top as previously

  2. Maxima looks very put-together here, and is honoring her hosts with quite a formal look -- my quibble is that this comes across as a sophisticated cocktail dress -- doesn't quite hit the right note.

My thoughts exactly Jane, when I first saw the photo.
She looks really good, no doubt - but it's not quite appropriate to the situation. A bit too formal as you say. Especially the shoes, nice as they are.
Perhaps she was headed to another more formal event afterwards, without the time or opportunity for a change (as recently was the case with her and a luncheon with the German president)? However I'm sure her audience appreciated her chic look in as much as it mattered to them.

    2. Anonymous at 8:10 PM, that is an excellent observation -- I had not considered that she might be on her way to another event that required more formal attire.

The Dabbawalla system is so impressive! Again, plateau shoes in India, otherwise good looking Maxima!

Pretty dress, but too formal, would suit cocktail hour much better. Other royals choose to dress more casual for daytime casual engagements and wear a dress like this for an evening engagement with local dignitaries. Duchess Catherine, Queen Letizia, and Countess Sophie do a good job of dressing appropriately especially in countries less privileged than theirs.

  7. Nice colour and style, simple yet elegant. I don´t like the pleats at the waist though that make the stomach area look bulky. Other than that - very good look.
In order to dress down a bit (she does look overdressed), she could have opted for more casual flat shoes.
