Queen Silvia Receives 'Theodor Wanner Award' in Berlin

Queen Silvia of Sweden received the 'Theodor Wanner Award 2017', with a ceremony held at the Allianz Forum in Berlin. The prize is awarded since 2009 to those who significantly contribute with their scientific, social, socio-political, artistic, entrepreneurial or financial expertise to foster dialogue among cultures.

The award was presented by the General Secretary of the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa), Ronald Graetz. Queen Silvia will donate the prize money to Sociedade Beneficente Alemã (German Relief Society) in São Paulo. The association offers a qualified holistic care of the elderly with cognitive dependency. In addition, educational and cultural programs are offered in a poor neighborhood of São Paulo for 320 children and young people.

  1. Not a flattering outfit. But nice that she gets some recognition for all she does. A queen to be proud of.

  2. A better fit to the dress (and better undergarments) would have made a lot of difference. It's hard to imagine that she doesn't have a stylist or assistant to advise her.

  3. I'm sorry to say it, but it's hard to believe what a sensation Silvia was when she arrived in Sweden, and what a beloved queen she was.
    It's often said that she saved the Swedish monarchy.
    Ofcourse we all change with age but some people seem to lose most of what they had.

  4. Yes, the fit of this dress is not as good as can be, but the fabric and color are just lovely on her. A little flare on the skirt might have helped because it wants to curve at the bottom anyway. She looks younger in this set of photos.
