    1. She's alright - for me, the Queen is the star.

    2. What would the Duchess do without the royal family? I really like the Duchess and think she is a good mother, but without the Prince's purse she would dress, age and hairdressed like any of us.

    3. Isn't Middleton's purse big enough to support their girls? I think it is.

  4. Kate is absolutely stunning, I like her hat and dress - it's lace again but on her it looks great. The Queen is also beautiful in mint green. On the first picture they held a minute of silence for all victims of terror attacks and fire in Grenfell Tower.

  5. Catherine...manifique...i love this style... she looks wonderful...wow..

  6. Catherine looks good although I dont like the style of the hat - it looks a little juvenile for a woman in her mid thirties.

The others look fine - I don't know how the Queen can bear to wear a coat in today's temperatures.

I would like to see a better pic of Beatrice's outfit - it's not the most flattering photo of her.

  7. At first I thought it was her Ascot dress from the last year.

      Heck,even i buy fake mcqueen purses(lol).
But its kind of stupid to buy the same dress of different brands.her stylists(including herself) are not very bright, are they??!!

    7. :-) @coralie & rainha

      @ chippy:
maybe she wants to honor different (english) designers by wearing their dresses?

I'm a fan of lace but I know, not everybody likes it :-)

  9. wow, they all look very good :-) very nice outfits!
    especially the queen - amazing!

  10. Catherine looks stunning. This is an over-the-top occasion so a lace dress dress is perfectly fine [and I'm not always a fan of lace in daytime].
Sophie looks good. I agree the queen must have been hot in that coat although she looks amazing, as usual..
[Thank goodness there wasn't a photo of Eugenie - not an appropriate look].

  11. Kate's dress is romantic, however, in my view she does not have a romantic persona. Nor does she have a romantic appearance. The hat is not so good.

  12. Zara's hat - oolalah

  13. Catherine knows how to dress classy, traditionell but stylish in the upper class english way ...

  14. The only one - and without a fail - is the Queen, (fashionwise)!! Even around the gentlemen are horrible, bad fitting suits....
(I can "live" with Sophie's hat.)

    1. I have actually never thought that the queen dresses well. Sure, she is always dressed appropriately and impeccably, but never in a flattering way. I find her outfits mostly hideous to be honest, from a fashion point of view. I don´t think she should try to be trendy or experiment more, but those boring coats, the ever-same shoes and bag, the bright colours... I will give her two things though: she is very much true to her style, and since she has had that style for the past 50 years, this is the age it is most appropriate for. But stylish - nah, not in my view.

      Delete
    2. But look around, what colours most people in higher age wear. She's 91.
Just about the colours: They are mostly funnny and strong, and it makes such a difference for a'n older person!! - in my opinion. (Well, the shoes are comfy for her feet, I guess. And if there is no real waist anymore and the body changes, then the coats are well fitted to stay "o.k." during long days.)

    3. Oh, I have the utmost respect for her carrying out her duties at that age! I can also see she has favourite shoes that are comfortable. It´s understandable but doesn´t make her stylish or fashionable. And I agree in principle about fresh and bright colours; in fact I would like the younger royals to dress more colourfully instead of all that black and grey we´re seeing, especially now in summer. But in the queen´s case, those admittedly happy and funny colours are just such a striking contrast to the boring, old-fashioned and (to me) uninspiring cuts and designs of her outfit. It makes for a costume-y or almost clownish effect instead of looking truly regal and timelessy elegant. As for tailoring etc. I think that Camilla (who has a somewhat similar shape) manages much better to vary her outfits and look contemporary. The Japanese Empress (who is of a similar age as the queen) manages better to look beautifully elegant and truly regal.

    4. Have you seen any of her majesty's outfits from when she was young? Have a good look before you make statements like 'the same outfits for 50 years', please.

  15. Lumineuse, sympathique, élégante, que dire de plus de Kate? Elle est tout simplement royale!

  16. Catherine is exquisite. Lace looks especially beautiful on her. Great look for Royal Ascot Day One.

  17. Catherine's dress: see how wonderful a dress 'made to fit' can look? The waist sits in the right spot, the length is perfect, and so are the shoulders and sleeves. I hope it was cotton! They say it was a very hot day, so I think Sophie's long green dress looks very heavy and matronly. Although Eugenie isn't shown, her black dotted sleeveless dress seems much more suitable for a day at the races than her sister's heavy, white long-sleeved outfit.

  18. Kate´s hat is a poor choice. It makes her look so weirdly long. She should have chosen a smaller hat, ideally one with a proper brim.
Beatrice´s hat on the other hand is too small, and she looks weirdly flat on top. I like her dress, but with that much volume in the dress she really needed something more substantial on her head to balance things out. And/Or shorten the dress to knee length.
Sophie looks nice, though I would have preferred her dress a bit shorter.

    1. I love Catherine's hat..it's beautiful and feminine and she pulls it with charm and grace.

  19. Sophie is a natural- she always seems at ease. Comfortable in her own skin, as they say, and she has real class. In reference to another person pictured, one cannot buy class with a designer dress.

  21. Kate's dress is like a first communion dress. And all the royals wearing their best finery and having a great time at the races. They all look good.
And I understand that life goes on, but still..

  22. An unfortunate pink fairy left incomprehensible trails of sick all over Beatrice's dress. In close ups, you can see that they are flowers--but there are very few close ups at Ascot. It's about silhouette, color effect and accessories/hats that catch the eye. Eugenie is actually a very pretty woman--a bit unbelievable that she does not understand support garments.
Catherine is Ascot perfection. The lace is exquisite, color is elegant, accessories are lovely. Those are the Queen's earrings, which she seems to wear fairly often.

  23. Okay, somebody needs to get Eugenie a bra-fitting STAT! The whole uni-boob in the middle of the chest-stomach region is NOT flattering!!! Seriously, lift and separate the girls!

    1. I thought the same thing. It look like she has a once piece spanx type undergarment on. Her entire chest area is one big mass. Not flattering. That dress was not a good choice for this lovely young lady.

  24. Think Catherine embodies 'My Fair Lady' ! Love the lace, simple and elegant, and she looks lovely.
Sophie always favours Emilia Wickstead, during Ascot week, this has to be one of her better choices.
HM looking very vibrant ! And at 91 she has a style that suits her and that is comfortable for her wear whilst carrying out her duties.
Camilla, love her hat, but her dress, lacks shape, and looks like it's hanging on her.
There are some photos of Carole Middleton in a few of newspapers, and she too looked lovely.

    1. Camilla seems to favor this loose fitting dress type. I have become used to it and I think it works on her. At least she doesn't try to fit into designer clothes.

  25. Magnificent, stylish and beautiful Duchess of Cambridge in her peplum detail and full skirt garment. The perfect garment for Ascot and Duchess. Beautiful pictures of the very much in love interaction between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - those pictures not on this blog.

  26. Or are the Duchess (Kate) and her "Hubby" renewing their vows? Looks like that.:) - There are only a few events where the lack of style/fashion, taste and tradition are combined so well. Money can't buy style. "Fashion goes - style never." (Coco Chanel)

  27. Terribly boring of Kate. Last year's dress was a much better fit. I have to assume that she did this on purpose. So that people stop talking about what she wears.

Lovely outfit on Beatrice for a change. And this is the second time lately that I find her sartorial choices better than Kate's. Hmmm...

Some stoic souls kept their jackets/coats on, her majesty included. Hat off (pun intended)

  28. Love what Sophie is wearing! Watching what Sophie wears to Ascot is always a favourite time of year for me.

Think if might be a first, but I like really like Eugenie ensemble for head to toe.

I find Catherine's outfit rather dull, just too much lace and too bland, she is beautifully groomed. Her hair is perfect, I would just love to see some colour and no lace.

HRH the Queen looks lovely in such a beautiful shade of green.
