Yesterday evening, Swedish Princess Madeleine, her husband Chris O'Neill and their friends got together for a gorgeous dinner at the Swedish & French Restaurant Bardot, opposite Teatergrillen in Östermalm in Stockholm, Sweden.

Agree with. They can have night out with their friends. They will also have true friends that don't have titles like all the people on this planet. My opinion I am sure it can get stuffy inside a palace therefore it is necessary to get back "normal" life. Chris O' Neill don't have a royal background and will have "ordinary" friends.
Of course it means mutual friends but English is such a strange language that we see "common" as meaning different things depending on the context, and I thought this context was worth a giggle.
English is a strange language?? Try French. At least, English sounds phonetic. Now try this French word: FILS. It could mean "son", or it could mean "threads". Enuff said.
According to a Swedish newspaper report, Chris took "cigarette breaks" throughout the meal. He is really hooked. What a shame for his long-term health.
The Swedish Press always love to paint a negative image of Chris. Lots of stuff they said about Chris is always being blown out of proportion. Maybe he took 1 smoking break, but the newspaper wanted to exaggerate it by saying he took many smoking breaks. Whenever any Press, especially the Swedish Press, reported on Chris, I think its best we take it as a grain of salt.
The man is bashed in the media since the beggining. Even for not showing up for rioyal assigments like he doesn't have a job. The rest of the family gets paid, he show up for free and he's not even swedish. The refused royal title and decided to work for his money. Good Chris!
Thank you for your comment, Raquel. I agree whole heartily with you. I just have admiration for Christopher O'Neil. Maybe the reason why the Swedish press don't like him, because he is not from Sweden. Maybe I would have more respect for "Prince Daniel" if he did the same as Christopher, bur is nice to get money without working for it.
"their common friends"!! Ooops I am sure that is not what you meant Ms Ellectra but it is very funny.
ReplyDeleteOh, for Christ's sake, leave them alone, they're just people, like you and I - we don't have the money and the crowns, but we're the same otherwise.

Deletecommon friends?! =(
ReplyDeleteWhat does that mean?! Not royal or friends they have in common? That phrase/sentence could be worded differently
It's ambigueous - I think they mean 'mutual friends, like in Facebook.

ReplyDeleteIn French, we also say: les amis communs, it does translate into mutual in English.
DeleteI giggled as well!

DeleteTo write common is allright i think: http://english.stackexchange.com/questions/184787/a-mutual-friend-a-common-friend-or-a-friend-in-common
ReplyDeleteCOMMON (mutual ) and COMMONER are two different meaning.
