  1. Love that V had a ponnytail for a change, looks good in Elie Saab. Just not sure if I think it's wort $4975! Madeleines Erdem - I'm not a Peter Pan collar fan, but I see it's a trend right now. It's not my cup of tea, but I'm not wearing it ;) The dress otherwise is ok. Sofia is qute in her Ida Sjöström outfit. So good Choice girls!

  2. What a beautiful line-up of The Royal Family. Everyone looked stunning, I loved all the fashion choices. The children stole the day, they are beautiful!!!!!!!!!

  9. Oscar and Alexander are so cute together. I'm sure they're besties. :)
Sofia's white dress is amazing. I'm glad she didn't choose ordinary blue.

  10. Ok, I agree the babies are cute and everything and I really don't want to spoil anyone's cheerfulness BUT... I'm saying an absolute NO to Victoria's appearance here. It's not even the dress but that hairband, I guess: it just looks ill on her. And maybe the colour, I'm afraid this salmon pink just doesn't suit her.
And again, I don't like Sofia's outfit. I don't know what she wanted with the whole look but in my opinion this is a fail. The hair parted in the middle and tightly pressed down: looks like she aims to copy CP Mary's wedding hairdo, which was indeed very elegant and royal - on Mary. And the pearl hairband, yes, everyone knows pearls are elegant and classy yet she looks like a russian doll with a kokoshnik made out of two rows of cheap plastic beads. If she refuses to wear a proper hat (as apparently all the three ladies here from the younger generation) at least she should have worn a nice fascinator. The same applies to Victoria by the way. She (Sofia) managed it before, the burgundy veil-bow she wore at the christening of Madeleine's son (as far as I can remember). And her curtain dress... I imagine her thinking the Duchess of Cambridge wore creamy-white shades to her children's christening, how regal, let's do that in lace so that the copying isn't that obvious! And please don't come to me furiously saying that I can't possibly know she was copying the DoC because I perfectly know that I don't know that, it's just an ironic scene I imagined to deal with this fashion panic! And just now I took a look at the group photo and noticed her shoes. Well of course nude ones! And with straps! Straight out of the late 90s-early 2000s! What's next? A black lace choker with a Hamsa pendant? A tiny diamond glued to her tooth? I'm NOT saying this is the end of the world, believe me I've seen much worse (royal and commoner), what I mean is that it's public knowledge she has a generous allowance to live on so I see absolutely no obstacle to hire a stylist. She wanted to be a royal, there, she got it, but not just the pomp, also the chores.
There, I said it. Anyone who doesn't come here to comment OPINIONS on royal fashion choices can throw the first rock.
To close this long comment on a positive note, it may not be their best but Madeleine and Silvia both look nice. I would have left M's white collar at home but the print on her dress is gorgeous, her earrings and hair, fascinator included, are lovely and Silvia rocks the retro headdress look.

    1. My my, how critical, the above words are...... especially about Sofia.
Please see some good in her!! Nobody is perfect, and I don't think you are perfect either.

    2. Strappy heels and chokers are back. So are mom jeans and flannel. The flashbacks are very real! Let's talk after Nobel awards ZL! I think we will see chokers...just, please, let there be diamonds!

      - white.
      - hairband
      - nude shoes

      Get a life ZL.

    4. M Hall, I'm not against chokers at all if they are made of diamonds, real pearls and precious stones :) I just dread the comeback of those gothic black lace/velvet/whatever things so much on trend in the 90s (anyone remembers? with very dark lipstick and terribly overplucked eyebrows). Trends have a comeback from time to time and that's good sometimes and, errrh, not so good other times :)

    5. Anne. I don't recall saying at any time I was perfect. How did this even come up? I thought this blog was about the people on the pictures, not the ones commenting :) Also, it's really not about seeing some good in her, why should I? It's about her dress choices which are mostly not the best, in my opinion (like I pointed that out originally). But she has plenty of opportunities in the future to prove she can do better, hasn't she? Therefore my opinion can be very different the next time. I hope it will be. Please don't get into bullying each other just because our opinions or tastes differ. This blog normally shouldn't be about us, commenters but a place to publish and contrast our views on royal fashion.

    6. Eva Andersson, I don't understand. Who said she was the first? Or that she wasn't? Or... what?
Also, you know nothing about my life. I may be through a serious illness, bedbound and spending my time with hobbies that I can do from my bed. Or I can be in a million different life scenes, all perfectly normal, and commenting here might be a small part in my life. Saying 'get a life' to someone you know nothing about just because, I don't know, apparently you can't deal with a differing opinion is malignity uncalled for and arrogance, distilled in three words.

There are a few that bully. Read below I just danced with one of the bigger offenders. I push back and glad you did too.

I don't have a life either and I am nervous and angry? Ridiculous.

Ignore them. There is no sense trying to discuss logic with them.

I am a big offender? Shame on you, hypocrite. Do you read your comments?
If the only thing you're looking for is a fight, then why are you here?
Nobody ever insulted me for no reason like that.
I don't know why am I writing this, pehaps I am just surprised with your words.

  13. Swedish royal family is bursting with babies and children :) so alive, so "real life"...what a contrast to British royals. They have what.. only 2...well maybe 3 yongsters.

    1. Not sure how only having 2 babies makes the BRF less alive. Fact is this ~ Edward and Sophie have 2 children; Andrew has 2 and they are grown; Anne has 2 and they are grown; Charles has 2 and they are grown. The Swedish Royal family has young adult children. The Queens children are older than Victoria, Madeline and Carl Phillip. The Swedish King and Queen are much younger than the Queen of GB. So of course there is a baby boom with them.

William and Kate have only been married 5 yrs and have 2.

      Peter has 2
      Zara has 1
      These are second generation

      This is REAL LIFE too
What a very odd comment you have made. Rude as well.

    2. Jolanta0024- I know I wish we could see more of the British little ones but it is doubtful due to some major run-in so with paps when Prince George was younger. I do love that there is more access to some of the European royal houses' kiddos. I think we have to wait for the candid BRF pics 'til they are nearly grown [tear]!

      Delete
    3. Why are you so sensitive? It's not a rude comment at all.
Jolanta is obviously fan of SRF.

      Delete
    4. @lassie - I don't think anyone is being sensitive ! Insensitive maybe ! @diane addressed the comparison made by @jolanta0024. I think if the comparison had been made to any other royal household, we would be reading many a comment with the word 'rude' in it, and rightly so ! :-)

      Delete
    5. Lassie ? POT. KETTLE. BLACK.

I am not sensitive. I am bothered by the constant bashing and comparison to Kate and the BRF by many on this blog. It is low class and not necessary. Its the clicky junior high girls being bullies. Why is there this constant comparison. These families are in many different seasons if life. I get that the BRF gets more attention and many follow them more than the others. But that is not their fault. We know that they wish this was not the case. We might still have Diana if they had left her alone. I am ole enough to have watched the whole story unfold all those years. Tragic. But obviously many like ALL the families as we are here and there and over there. Comments regarding fashion etc are great but comments that are personal in context are not fair and rude.

Real life is whatever a persons life is at the moment. We all have real lives. Real live includes babies teens young adults aging parents and grandparents.

So no Lassie I am not sensitive I am a person that was taught to not judge or be rude in my words. If you cannot say anything nice then say nothing at all. For the life of me I cannot understand why so many here take a post a place to bash Kate or the BRF. Tacky rude not necessary. I doubt very much that CP Victoria would ever make such comments.

And yes Annabel is correct! If the post was switched and the comment was that the BRF was 'real life' many of you woild be rabid in your defense. I ask why must we do that either way? No comparisons!

      Thanks Annabel 😊

  16. I am a great fan of CP Victoria, but sorry, this dress was no good choice! The colour makes her look older and the style ins't flattering at all. But most of all it is the hairband - I think it looks ridiculous in a way. Victoria has impressed me with so many beautiful and most elegant looks, but this one is definitely no one to impress me.

  17. I've seen Crown Princess Victoria wear her hair this way several times. This lady can even make a pony tail look elegant!!!!

  18. I very much enjoyed the christening ceremony. I didn't care for the headbands of Victoria and Sofia. Not too sure about Madeleine's dress but she's so beautiful everything looks good on her. Estelle's dress was too grown up and the color to matchy matchy with her mother, but she's very cute, and so are all the kids, Leonore dress was very pretty and she behaved just fine, her . Alexander is the cutest, so smiley and happy! The queen's dress was OK but a little too busy, Sofia's mother's dress color was beautiful but it didn't fit her so well. The grandmother and sisters looked very nice.
The King, Carl Philip, Daniel, Christopher and Erik, Sophia's father, they all looked so handsome! Well done!

  19. I loved watching it all! I liked all of the clothes. Alexander is quite the chunk! Big boy! My Sam was a chunk too and so snuggly. He was so well behaved! Estelle is always such a joy to me. I adore this child. Our little runner was good girl today. She is darn cute and Nicholas is getting so big!

Everyone looked happy and pleased and it was lovely that they alllow us to watch these family events as they happen.

    Happy weekend all !

  21. Pity Princess Madelaine is not a Godmother. Stylish, beautiful woman. What a great photo of her as godmother with gorgeous Prince Philip and his pretty wife! Princess Madelaine has that classic look. WOW

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It is not a pity, as you write, and Madelaine wants no pity. Victoria, the older sister and crown princess, is the godmother for her brother's first child. More than likely there will be another and Madelaine may well be chosen for this next baby.

      Delete
    2. I know Princess Madelaine do not need anyone's pity. She is too beautiful for that. I pity the protocol, the princess and her brother are very close and I am sure it he had his way Princess Madelaine was the godmother. Just as protocol and excuses from the Royal House for the late baptism of Prince Alexander. But he was very sweet and stole the show at his baptism. Even the King was laughing something you do not see often. Maybe his cousin Prince Oscar will learn in time to be as friendly and happy. The father's genes very visible in poor little Prince Oscar. Prince is sweet and cute, but that little prince of Princess Madeline is gorgeous, just as beautiful as his mother and handsome like his father. Princess Madelaine's dress for the occasion fit her to the tee and the way she was wearing her hair - stunning. Therefore style + beauty = Princess Madelaine!!!

      Delete
    3. Oscar is a calm baby, which is a blessing for parents. Why do you call him poor? These are very young children and you can't predict their personalities at this age.
      They are all adorable!

      Delete
    4. Anne-Marie Punt: Also Victoria and Carl Philip are very close each others. Actually Madeline tried her best not to get Sofie as a sister-in-law. Very difficult to believe she would have been the first choise to godmother what ever prothocol says.

You can say about those little babies Oscar and Alexander who is going to be happy and friendly? You are very good in future seeing then. In my eyes Oscar looks like happy child.

      Delete
    5. I agree with you, Beverly! Madeleine is a Godmother to Prince Oscar. She's not even living in Sweden at this time. She will have to move back by the time Leonor starts school or they will lose their place in the line or succession, not that it's likely to ever happen. I was very surprised Prince Daniel hasn't been asked to be a Godfather to any of the kids yet.

  24. I appreciate that Sofia is trying hard, but she just doesn't seem comfortable in clothing for these formal settings. In an attempt to look conservative and "correct" she's often wearing outfits that are dowdy, not flattering to her figure and more suitable for someone 20 years older. I wish she would embrace her curves and take a few more risks. Her hair is completely off for this christening and the dress doesn't seem right, either.

Victoria, on the other hand, looks amazing. I too agree that it's exciting she's finally doing something less austere with her hair. I can always count on Madeleine to look graceful and stylishly appropriate. Don't love this outfit on her but it's not a miss; she still looks classy and chic.
