Princess Mako of Akishino visited the research vessel Kaimei

On May 18th, 2016, Princess Mako of Akishino visited the research vessel “Kaimei” (enlightened) which is currently docked at the Ariake Pier in Tokyo harbour. The world’s most advanced research vessel, Kaimei, efficiently performs wide-area seabed research into distribution of submarine resources, and has comprehensive scientific-research capabilities to elucidate the genesis of mineral and ore deposits. On June 7, 2015, the naming and launching ceremony of Jamstec’s new research vessel took place at the Shimonoseki Shipyard. The ceremony was attended Princess Kako of Akishino.
