  1. Oh Kate :(

This should have stayed in 2012. It is way too short in my opinion. The skirt does not lay properly. Oh not a good look. Add the black tights and boots and it just looks heavy and bland. Flat limp hair today.

This is a miss for me today. Some outfits do not deserve a repeat. It was nice in 2012. But 5 yrs on ? Nyet

    1. Agree. Almost uncomfortable to look at her. And, to me, she looks a bit uncomfortable as well. Skirt is way too short for an outing that will require her to bend over repeatedly to greet small children. Boots look worn. At least her hair is off of her face but she needs to let go of the little girl long hair and get a decent cut.

  2. I do not like this outfit. I feel like the skirt make her look like a school girl.

    1. Exactly. What a pity, she can do much better.

  3. Oops too short. Unappropriate.

  5. Ehemmm... Ok, I get this is an event about and around children so I won't preach about skirt lenght but hemline aside, this is ill fitting and such an ugly heavy material... well... not nice! Skater skirt, really??? With a double buttoned smoking lapel blazer???? And what are those flaps or pleats or peplums on the back of the blazer?? And her hair, for every saint of God, what is this half tucked up styleless style? Why couldn't she put it up in a neat ponytail, after all, she wears a skater skirt so I guess she was preparing to jump through bushes, she should wear her hair appropriately! Oh I absolutely love Kate but I find nothing appealing in this outfit except the nice comfy boots (ok, it's because I want those boots in my wardrobe, now, please).

  6. The skirt is way too short and innapropriate - she looks like a british school girl. the black boots look horrendous with the total outfit. She has enough money to avoid having to recycle old, and innapropriate clothing. Complete miss

  7. That's a controvesity between her look and her age. He is really too old for such clothes and for such hairdo.

  8. I think she looks great! The colour is beautiful, and why not wear a short skirt - with those legs! I also like her hairstyle. Not so "official" and therefore suitable for this event. I say: well done!

    1. Coralie, it looks like we are presenting the minority opinion!
At first glance I thought it looks both cute and edgy!
Second look - I still like it! Okay, it's short but a lot of the time Kate is criticized for being too mumsy [love that word although I think there is no north American translation]. And the colour is great.

  9. How different this would have looked, if her hair had been styled in an updo, and the skirt had been longer. Never keen when there's an obvious gap between the skirt and the boots, looks a little out of zinc.

    1. Why compare Catherine and Diana?

    2. Respectfully, Isabelle, I think it's difficult and perhaps a bit unfair to compare them. Diana had such a distinctively glamorous look [the blond hair, the smile?] but her clothes were not always winners [remember some of the outfits from the 80s?] - although I admit when they were good she looked amazing.

    3. i guess i miss diana and wished to see more glamour in katherine's look, which i find dissapointing and boring.

    4. Kate has style and elegance. Just not today in my view. LOL
Diana had many misses as well. It happens. But style? Elegance? Kate is doing well there.

    5. To compare these women does not make sense at all. We live - thank god! - in completely different times now, especially as for royal ladies. Think of all the ladies we read about in this blog, Letizia, Mary, Mette-Marit, and not to forget the men (Prins Daniel). And then think back of those old days, when there was such a gap between royals and "normal people".
And we all know how glamourous Catherine can be! She is a beauty (I think of the Canada- and India-Trips), but fortunately she does not have to look glamorous each and every time.

    6. Isabelle, I'm glad that you admit why you're disappointed in some way by Kate's look, behavior etc. You miss Diana and you want her back in some way - through DC. But that's impossible (thank's God). Diana should stay Diana and DC should be exactly what she is and even if I "critised" her for today's look that doesn't mean she generally doesn't make her role very good. I liked Diana and I like Kate.

  11. Would have been a great opportunity for a trouser suit. I guess we'll never see one.

  12. Love the outfit of the Duchess. It is fresh, healthy and playful look. She has the legs for a short skirt and is still young enough to wear it. Photo five beautiful and shows how comfortable and well adjusted lady she is.

  13. I can only reinforce what others have already said -- the skirt is way too short.
It should be put away for Princess Charlotte to wear several years from now.

  14. Where are her skates? It looks like a skirt for dancing on ice. Not comparing Diana and Catherine, but Diana had an awful lot of misses too.

  15. Die Dame lernt es nicht. Der Rock ist viel zu kurz und nicht schön.

  16. Love the rich gorgeous garnet colour, however, in my opinion the jacket and the skirt are a tad too short for Kate's long lean frame. I do like the boots and the black tights.

I would also love to see a little bit of lipstick, gloss or even just a hint of tinted lip balm of Kate's lips. Just the slightest touch of colour on her lips and cheeks would make my day.

  17. Dismal. Her hair looks like a Sister Wife. Her skirt belongs on a cheerleader in 1965. She needs some blush. She needs a stylist and if she's got one... off with their head!

    1. I agree. On top of it all she seems to have just a few facial expressions, none of them sincere. She needs a course in social interaction - how be seem to be natural, interested in the people she is speaking with.
