Dutch Royals attend the Four Freedoms Award Ceremony

On April 21, 2016, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Princess Beatrix of The Netherlands attend the Four Freedoms Award ceremony in the Abdij in Middelburg, The Netherlands. The International Four Freedoms Award is awarded to German chancellor Angela Merkel. Winners of the other awards are Mazen Darwish, Dr. Denis Mukwege, three spiritual leader from central Africa.

The Four Freedoms Medals are presented each year to men, women and organizations whose achievements have demonstrated a commitment to Franklin D. Roosevelt's four Freedoms: freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear. The annual award is handed out in alternate years in New York, New York, by the Roosevelt Institute and in Middelburg, Netherlands, by the Roosevelt Stichting.
