The popular sisters-in-law were in the public eye once more with a show of affection at an official engagement. Both women greeted each other with a kiss on the cheek as they turned out in their finery for the opening of the new Danish parliamentary season. The annual event at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen is a well-established tradition. Crown Prince Frederik's stylish wife Mary opted for understated elegance in a black A-line coat dress and matching hat.

Princess Marie's sartorial choice contrasted beautifully - the French-born brunette opting for a figure-hugging beige suit and vertiginous heels in the same muted tone.

The outfit belied the fact that Marie recently welcomed her second child Athena, with husband Prince Joachim. Completing the family affair were Queen Margrethe and her husband Prince Henrik.
