I must join the majority in saying that I do not care for her choice of dress for this event. I know next to nothing about traditional fashion in Indonesia so I can't comment on whether Mary is guilty of ill-advised cultural appropriation (but I can't imagine she would do so willingly, and she is too intelligent to do so unwittingly). Suffice it to say, she made a fashion choice which was pleasing to her. I seem to understand that the "ETRO" dress was for a visit to the ballet. I'm of mixed feelings about the choice. Perhaps a little over the top but given that it's rare for Mary to make a bad choice, I'll give it a mark of 10/20. deadeggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14829007843653227671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-64543921621714195322019-12-04T04:58:36.266+00:002019-12-04T04:58:36.266+00:00This is a rare miss for me. It's a bit insulting. The Etro piece is Japonesque and does not resemble the Indonesian Kebaya the least bit. It's far too much of a coincidence that Princess Mary to trotted this piece out during this trip. Indonesian is a very far ways from Japan. This is worst than when the DoC wore the Cook Islands dress to a Solomon Island event. Surely someone on their staff must be knowledgeable on these cultural nuances and advise them? A quick google search wouldn't hurt either...if Princess Mary wanted, perhaps she could have purchased a dress from a local designer as many other royals have done.Annahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17022048258787930784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-48075098010069797792019-12-03T20:20:02.456+00:002019-12-03T20:20:02.456+00:00Sadly, this looks more like a bedroom garment, tha...Sadly, this looks more like a bedroom garment, than something fashionable.
