In my opinion Meghan isn't inappropriately dressed, she is wearing an a totally appropriate outfit, it suits her status, her age and her figure, although I have to admit, she does have very, very slender legs.

I grew up admiring the Princess of Wales. When she was young, she dressed older than her years, sadly it wasn't until she entered her thirties that she really blossomed. Hemlines went up, necklines went down. Diana began to really show of her gorgeous legs, elegant décolletage and stunning figure with the "right" clothes.

I hope Meghan maintains her individuality and maintain and builds on her own sense of style. It's me!https://www.blogger.com/profile/02065973857320702215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-65257032840783085812018-09-05T03:26:40.405+01:002018-09-05T03:26:40.405+01:00Beth..I respect your opinion and agree with you mo...Beth..I respect your opinion and agree with you most of the time, but zoning in on every little imperfection in some outfits really takes away from the purpose of the event and reduces the person to a clothes hanger. Yes it is about fashion, but there is a human element and Ms. Electra always tries to include both in her choice of pictures, while H&M always seem warm and attentive at their events. It is true that there is time before these events to have them tailored since mass manufacturing will not fit every body type to perfection. The truth is that many of these garments are worn only once. It is not as if they are outrageously ill fitting. To a trained eye some things are jarring, but why make costly adjustments then hang them in a closet. Royalty on the whole is under fire for being a throwback to another era with no true relevance in the 21st century. They probably do not care to invite unnecessary criticism for having large closets of bespoke and/or expertly tailored clothes. Some posters seem to think that they owe us new knock-em-dead outfits and accessories...and stockings.. at every appearance (applying invented protocol of their own making) and overlook the cause. Many people spend a lot of time in their lives dressing to hide this or that body flaw, then realize that it does not matter in the long run. A clear mind, spirit of adventure and compassion for others are more important. We all come in different sizes and shapes. The fashion challenge is, to find the right style and fit for your size and frame. I don't think that those who commented on Meghans thin legs wanted to be mean, it has nothing to do with body shaming. They simply noticed although this look is overall a good one for Meghan, something is just not quite right. I noticed that too. Most of us don't have the perfect customer figure, where you simply buy and slip in. To make a dress look great it needs in most cases some little adjustments. What you have to have in mind, first point is, a dress has to sit right on the shoulders. Because when it sits wrong on the shoulders there is not much you can do to save the look. That means: you buy a dress from the shoulders downwards. Then you put your eye on the bust, the waist, the hips, the length and the armlength. The proportion of upper body and lower body is important. I like this dress very much and I think it is a great style for Meghan. It would have needed just tiny adjustment to make a perfect look. What I would have done: adjust the front part with an invisible button inside to fix the lapels and lower the hem one or two inches. It would still have been a mini dress above the knee.

Meghan does have thin and long calves. This is not body shaming, this is a fact, that you need to have in mind when you choose the right skirt length. As I said before, the proportions would have looked better with the skirt part a tiny bit longer still above the knee. And.....this is important: Different shoes!! These pointed high heels are not good for Meghans legs and her body proportions. She usually buys them one size too big and can't walk in them. The heels she is wearing draw the attention to the less perfect parts of her body (again, no this is is not body shaming, these are the facts alle of us face) The wrong shoe destroys the whole look! This dress, which is a coat dress actually would need a lower heel and a less pointed front. This would make for a more confident standing and walking and would make this good look a real Wow! look.Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10616649705139203889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-9749766770796846162018-08-31T10:58:07.278+01:002018-08-31T10:58:07.278+01:00Fully agree with chardonn8r and Pine.Fully agree with chardonn8r and Pine.MaryThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05425389619318594761noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-66634288463205846392018-08-31T04:00:23.047+01:002018-08-31T04:00:23.047+01:00Those are super rude comments. You have gone from commenting on Meghan's clothes to attacking her body, namely her legs. Body shaming goes both ways. It is not just for over-weight women. LilyBart and Gilberte Lambrechts are also body shaming her for being too thin. Is it really okay to dictate how a thin woman should dress because her lower legs are a distraction to you? I thought it had been made clear that it was not acceptable to body shame any woman. Thinner woman cannot always help how they look and the comments can be just as hurtful. Zucchina makes a valid point about some of these comments possibly coming from different countries or cultures. I would like to add that different age groups may have different opinions as well. Not wearing stockings is just the way it is now. I understand some women will cling to their stockings for all time, but please respect the women that are confident enough to go without. We are trending toward "natural beauty", that should include forgoing stockings. Meghan is young and can wear a shorter dress, just as Kate has done. Being royal should not mean the ladies are forced to dress as if they are 20 years older than they are. I am happy to see Meghan finding a balance between her personal style and her royal style. This is body shaming. It is offensive. We are all born with certain body shapes, and that includes our legs. Commenting on fashion is fine but targeted barbs are not OK. Maria Teresa of Luxembourg is a short, rotund woman and we would be rightly taken to task for calling her "stump legs", but somehow it is OK to use terms like "chicken legs" for Meghan? I realize the term has not been used in this particular thread but it has definitely been used on this board.
