Please if you are going to steal another cultures ideas please steal them all. Those exquisite black flat shoes she wore or some pretty Indian sandels would have looked so much better. She still looks elegant but it just does not look right. I have a theory why she nearly always wears high heels or wedges even with jeans. If you look at her body shape she is quite long bodied with relatively short legs (that they look long is a visual trick) The waistline of quite a lot of her clothes is a few centimetres above her natural waistline and she nearly always wears heels and very often nude coloured ones. I think someone somwhere has convinced her that nude shoes and high heels will visually elongate your legs and it has stuck. Every time I see her in a bespoke Alexander McQueen dress the waist is in the right place and she looks marvelous.nalerinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10394474678078752247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-44560808230691188212019-10-19T19:50:52.406+01:002019-10-19T19:50:52.406+01:00Entiendo lo que quiso trazmitir "Trudy",...Entiendo lo que quiso trazmitir "Trudy",creo exageró un poco con los trajes regionales, excelente y hermosa en la mezquita;-especialmente por la Concepción y limitaciones de la mujer-(estuve allí..)Teresa2424https://www.blogger.com/profile/00606815978634630833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-18157338812550739752019-10-19T17:48:00.566+01:002019-10-19T17:48:00.566+01:00The black jacket is beautifully cut, falls perfect...The black jacket is beautifully cut, falls perfectly and works well. The thing here could be that she is not aware about intersubjective reasons for values of a secular society. Kate did dress very oriental during this trip, and she didn´t have to. There are ways to respect local customs and still look like your normal self. I happen to love oriental-inspired clothing and would wear caftan-like tunics for example even in my western context without hesitation (hence my above comment) but I can understand that you and others feel that she ventured very far from her usual conservative style. The difference is indeed striking and obvious for everyone to see, and there is a fine line between diplomatic dressing and cultural appropriation. I think she stayed on the right side of that line with the above featured outfits, but I can understand you if you feel that she crossed it, and in fact I even agree regarding some of the other outfits she´s worn during this trip including the very first outfit in which arrived.

Generally, I wish people would tolerate disagreeing opinions better and wouldn´t automatically call everything offensive that is the least bit controversial. There is a difference between being critical and being offensive, and I´m worried about the politically correct climate everywhere which increasingly stigmatizes all sorts of criticism. I fail to see how Trudy´s comment is offensive in any way. Instead, I´ll thank you Trudy for being honest and contributing to the discussion!Vanessanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-80060979584096852402019-10-19T09:53:39.927+01:002019-10-19T09:53:39.927+01:00I always like to read different opinions, so why s...I always like to read different opinions, so why should Trudy not say what she thinks? But at the same time I have to admit I don't understand, Trudy, why you say that "we Europeans have our own values". Of course we have! Do you think when Catherine dresses more Pakistan-y on a formal visit in Pakistan, that she denies european values then? I don't think she does. She dresses respectful to her hosts. The white and black outfit is okay but it’s my least favourite of the trip apart from the casual skirt waistcoat combo.
To those who feel that wearing the dress of the country all the time is too much, I understand the point but when she looks this good I, for one, would not complain. I think it was the Duchess of Cornwall who first wore tunic/ trousers as her main choice for visiting Muslim nations ( Diana wore a mix as Catherine has done previously). As a Scot, the fact that many of the royal family turn up clad in tartan at so many Scottish events is mildly strange when most Scots don’t own anything tartan. However, I don’t think it’s offensive in any way.
This whole tour has been a joy, both in the outfits worn and watching the enjoyment of this lovely couple as they undertake their public engagements. So sad it’s over.
