The Princess of Wales is making a two-day visit to the northern Italian city of Reggio Emilia as part of the international expansion of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. The visit focuses on the city’s renowned philosophy of early childhood development, widely known as the Reggio Emilia approach. On May 13, the Princess of Wales was welcomed by the mayor of Reggio Emilia, Marco Massari.
The Princess then met with the mayor inside Reggio Emilia’s Town Hall and spoke with several women who helped shape the Reggio Emilia approach. Among the pioneers were Carla Rinaldi, Iona Bartoli, and Eletta Bertani. The Princess of Wales was also presented with the Primo Tricolore, the city’s highest honor, by Mayor Marco Massari.
Afterward, the Princess of Wales visited the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre, a place where researchers, teachers, and families come together to document children’s learning. The Princess then took part in a clay atelier workshop led by atelierista Marco Spaggiari. For the occasion, the Princess wore a blue suit by Edeline Lee.

I am sure there will be many disparaging comments but in my humble opinion this is a superb outfit. I love the colour, the trousers and the top even the hair! The Princess looks radiant and it is lovely to see her in her first foreign trip

حذفI like the beautiful peacock blue colour of the pansuit but not the elasticized waistband at the back. I don't think it's necessary and creates unsightly bulk.
ردحذفPrincess Catherine is wearing a beautiful turquoise pant suit. Love the light blue handbag. I do not like the elastic part incorporated in the back of the jacket. I cannot see the shoes very well, but I think they are brown. Don't know why the British royal ladies are wearing so many times brown shoes, even if they don't match the suit or dress.
ردحذفBrown is a good neutral colour and softer than black, especially if you dress in overall bright clothes, as is the case here. I also think that brown works really well with this shade of blue. And: since Catherine has brown hair, anything brown she chooses to wear will automatically match her overall colouring.

I certainly don´t find her brown shoes distracting or mismatched. They look light brown on my screen. We cannot see much of them anyway because her trousers are that long (a tad too long actually). But apart from that, her outfit is fabulous I think.

It was a working visit of a non native Italian royal lady, after all.
I viewed many moments when she was talking to the crowd naturally, no help required .
I know she understands and speaks Italian well .
You know, I do believe that people weren't interested in assessing her linguistic skills but more in building up an emotional interaction with her and this happened successfully.
Catherine talked to children naturally, too, no fabricated screenplay, no protocol, no linguistic expectations to fulfil.
Children did the magic in the International language of pure affection and that's all that matter to them.

ردحذفI like this shade of blue even though I've said a few times that I didn't find it flattering on her. It looks okay here. The back of the jacket is another thing. Not flattering at all. I love brown shoes. Don't know why she's wearing them so much she could have matched the suit or purse.

ردحذفI love the suit! At first I wasn’t sure about the elasticated back but I think it makes the jacket a bit more casual and I can see it worn with white jeans and a pair of sneakers. My only quibble about this outfit is the shoes. Sky high stilettos seem unnecessarily fussy here when she could look just as fabulous in a block heel or even a flat shoe. (V.M.)
ردحذفI thought exactly the same about the shoes. Although on several occasions I have nothing against the stilettos, here I see no need for that.
حذفShe looks wonderful but I am in the tribe of those who can’t stand good clothes to drag on the ground. I think the suit which is a beautiful colour for her would look twice as good with the cuffs hemmed so we can see at least half of the shoes if not the majority. This current trend of endless leg doesn’t suit those who already have long legs in my opinion; it’s great for those with proportionally shorter legs.
ردحذفThe DOC does not really have long legs in proportion to her height. She really has a long torso and is very long waisted. Many of her dresses have the waist an inch or so above the real waist to create an illusion of longer lower half.For years she also wore mainly nude coloured shoes which elongate the appearance of the legs. All quite good ideas for some of us, with legs shorter than we would like.
حذفTrousers are a bit too long. As opposed to some of you, I like that elasticised waist, first, because why always same-old-same-old suit jacket, second because it creates a somewhat more curvy silhouette (similar like a peplum does) and that kind of "bulk" is not really unwelcome in this case, or is it? Looks really good. There is one or two little "bumps" visible on her tummy, see photo #3, as if the blouse had some embellishments or buttons there that press through the fabric of the trousers. That could be dealt with too. But all in all, very nice, and I find this colour very becoming on her.
ردحذفI must say,this is one of the nicest pant suits I think I’ve ever seen Princess Catherine wear. The tailoring is exquisite. The trouser hem has been perfectly measured. I love the color and the white body blouce underneath. My only gripe is the length of her hair. I wish she had worn it up in a ponytail. It just gives the overall finish a neater look.

Catherine looks appropriate and well-groomed. I have a bit of pants suit fatigue, but this one is a nice color and fits her well. I wasn’t sure initially about the elastic on the back of the jacket; however, I think it does help keep the jacket from looking too baggy on her. The buttons on the jacket are pretty and add a little interest.

As usual, she is put together so well. But I take issue - as some of you did as well - with the elastic band on the back of the blazer. It's not that it does anything bad to her, but it pulls down the whole ensemble a little in way of sophistication or elegance. Not so sure about the cognac-coloured (?) shoes, to me they seem to not match the rest so well. Two minor points for an otherwise lovely outfit.

Gli italiani sono così, semplici, diretti, genuini, generosi e riescono a stabilire molto spesso inaspettate connessioni emotive (so che tu hai apprezzato molto questo aspetto).
Non potevo essere presente a Reggio Emilia, ma avrei tanto voluto essere il mezzo alla folla che ti ha accolto non solo come un membro della famiglia reale britannica, ma come una persona semplice e naturale .
Abbiamo compreso il tuo animo buono, a noi bastano poche mosse per vedere il bene in una persona.
Hai brillato con tutta la forza di una persona che ha sofferto molto e che sta, con fatica e resilienza, tornando ad una vita piena di gioia e di speranza.
I bambini , più di tutti, hanno percepito quel tuo essere " speciale" nella tua assoluta semplicità.
E i bambini non sbagliano, perché sono veri e spontanei.
