No children can have knowledge without guidance how to dress for such occasion. This kind of pictures keep living hundreds of years. As a mother (of five in my case) I would never let my children embarrass themselves like Märtha Louise did here.Blondiinihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00023296581379404384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-9973904424712368902016-01-18T17:47:49.800+00:002016-01-18T17:47:49.800+00:00@Anonymous January 18, 2016 at 8:41 AM - And just ...@Anonymous January 18, 2016 at 8:41 AM - And just why is an opinion called "bullying"? Seriously? I've read other unfavorable comments about her outfit. She is not dressed appropriately for the occasion, but casually whatever, express yourself. My comment is not bullying, but nobody dare say anything nowadays for fear of hurting someone's tender feelings. And I guess this reply won't get posted.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-81871870896520637342016-01-18T17:42:45.148+00:002016-01-18T17:42:45.148+00:00Nope...you are still legal guardian/parent, and th...Nope...you are still legal guardian/parent, and there are of course serveral occasions when you have to act like one. This is - for my liking - a moment to veto the girls own clothing decision. Children should learn in good time to be considerate to third parties. That never hurt anyone.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-11701640963106791762016-01-18T15:12:07.113+00:002016-01-18T15:12:07.113+00:00It is very healthy to let children "express t...It is very healthy to let children "express themselves" in their clothing and hairstyles and in decorating their bedrooms.

Hair grows back, colours grow out, and clothing can be changed, rooms can be repainted, nothing is permanent.

Personally I believe letting a child choose their own clothing is a "healthy" decision. Children reach an age when they shouldn't be dressed by their parent. Yes, there are some situations where they may need to conform, say at school because there is a dress code, but obviously this wasn't one of those occasions.

Martha Louise would know how her parents would react to how her children are dressed, she would know if they would approve or disapprove. If Martha Louise did the same thing when she was young woman, my guess is that her parents believe that despite the restrictions of being "Royal" youngsters need to be able to express themselves in ways that aren't too permanent. Changing clothes, hairstyles or hair colour is much more manageable and less permanent piercings and tattoos.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-20578354551573473162016-01-18T07:34:27.858+00:002016-01-18T07:34:27.858+00:00That girl in red socks and ugly dress and the girl...That girl in red socks and ugly dress and the girl with black tights and white shoes will hate their rest life that photo. They will also be angry to their mother that she was not making them dress properly.

I had myself one situation like that in my early teen years. I had in confirmation picture where all others had long skirts and black socks but I am with mini skirt and brown socks. I am still angry to my mother that she did not tell me that was not the right way to dress.Blondiinihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00023296581379404384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-55940837233374437812016-01-18T06:41:32.746+00:002016-01-18T06:41:32.746+00:00And how do you think she would feel reading this c...And how do you think she would feel reading this comment, it's a 12 year old girl you are bullying.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065972902087062391.post-78043887864963847092016-01-17T22:54:56.682+00:002016-01-17T22:54:56.682+00:00I remember Märtha-Louise while she was emerging in...I remember Märtha-Louise while she was emerging into a young lady, she was free-wheeling with her wild sense of fashion and outlandish colors. Along comes total-opposite conservative Mette-Marit who has dressed her two youngest quite nicely.

ML's three daughters are dressed inappropriately for this milestone occasion, especially the older one who is sleeveless and wearing red tights. Considering this photo has historical significance, these girls might be a bit embarrassed by it in the future. Their grandparents are king and queen, for goodness' sake!
