  2. Just because an outfit walks the runway doesn’t mean it looks good or is I n good taste. This dress is one of her worst. The ruffles and the yellow color. Yuck!

  3. Queen Sonia wore a similar dress years back. Just too much yellow. She looks like a canary!

    1. Exactly! Tweety was ma first thought. However it's a pity there's no close-up pic about Rania. She looks like a disney princess here.

    2. La robe de la reine Sonia avait moins de volants mais était encore plus laide !

  4. Hhm. I actually like yellow, and I think it´s an underrated colour for clothing. However, that gown is a very unbecoming shade of yellow - too strong, too neon, too acid. And it´s a lot of it. And with that strange frilly design, I cannot help but think of an Easter project gone wrong, like an exploded (radioactive?) egg yolk or something. Funnily, the model with the same gown in nude/blush pink looks like the half-plucked hen to go with that Easter horror scenario. At least, both gowns can be upcycled into more successful Easter decoration (by shredding them to pieces to resemble those colourful feathery bits that Swedes put on twigs).

    1. LOL about turning it into an Easter design. I love yellow too but a strong yellow dress will only work if in a simple design.

  5. Very, very funny comment. Beatrix' and Rania's gowns are not much better, the red one is almost acceptable. What in the world were these women thinking?

  6. Doesn't flatter Maxima at all. The dress resembles big bird. Not trying to be mean but it's what I thought the minute I saw it.

  7. Margriet is the only one in a passable dress. Maxima's is horrendous.

Rania dress is beautiful ..it is a tribute to Jordanian culture.i like it. Maxima's dress is lovely but the color is not. Wish she wore a more discreet color .

  16. Spring is here and out come the yellow dresses - sigh! Princess Beatrix looks relaxed and happy.

  17. Good grief is Maxima turning into Mette-Marit with all the ruffles? Now we have two royal ladies who are into ruffles overload. Next Maxima will be wearing Little House on the Prairie prints.

Even though I don't like yellow, I'm okay with the paler yellow of Maxima's dress compared to what Queen Sonja's yellow number looks like. My issue is that the ruffles/frills/flounces are too short & heavy and it gives off a scruffy, rather than elegant, look. Unbelievably, the dress worn by the model is even worse.

  19. Yellow is a hard colour for anyone to wear, but yellow and that design... It's time to get over ruffles, I think.
