Princess Mako attended the 34th Sign Language Speech Contest

Princess Mako, the eldest granddaughter of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, attended the 34th High School Sign Language Speech Contest in Yurakucho, Tokyo on August 26, 2017. Princess Mako signs an address during a high school sign language contest. The princess will meet the press with her boyfriend on Sept. 3 for the announcement of their engagement.

  3. The Japanese royal family dress extremely conservatively. The women's suits, although they come in different colors, are almost like a uniform. Jackets that are never tight, rather boxy; skirts are cut just at or below the knee; lower-heeled pumps. When hats are worn, they are small and often pillbox in shape. Masako has worn trousers, which is a bit unusual.
