The meaning of the name 'Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck'

Bhutan visit of Prince William and Duchess Catharine was completed on April 16. On April 17, the name of first child of King Jigme Khesar and Queen Jetsun Pema, Crown Prince of Bhutan was announced as "Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck".

Jigme means brave. It symbolizes a big courage which will help him overcome any difficulty that may face him in the future when serving Bhutan.

Namgyel means overcoming all obstacles and having a victory to the fullest extent. That name has been taken from the founder of Bhutan state, Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. Wangchuck is the name of the dynasty coming from the royal ancestry.
