That outfit is terrible! The socks & shoes look strange and with the cropped jeans - awful, the tops are too short for leggings... she looks like she put on whatever she found under the bed that morning. Slouching and drab as usual. She used to have better style (and I wasn't a fan in the past either, so that's saying something).

So, what do YOU wear when you are taking your child shopping? Leave her alone!

I dress better than that every day, thank you. It's not rocket science to put together a decent outfit, especially casual wear.

Having a few career ambitions and life goals,is important, but to be a great mom or to be a great dad, and knowing that a Child's environment is so important to their development is responisbility.
Princess Catherine seems to be a loving mother and wears this outfit to take good care for her sweetheart.
We know from experience that beginning kindergarten is a big step in your child's life - but it can also be a giant step in your life as a parent.

A forum is suppossed for everyone to hand out his opinion.
If you don´t agree with something it´s not useful and constructive to negate somebody's position. Comment it, critisize it, BUT leave it. Post your own comment and give it a bone.
The clothing of royals and VIPs are subject of discussions - that´s the way it is. This forum is about this theme. Critic on their styles is not critic on their persons themself. Nobody intend to harm anybody.
The permanent defence of Kate sux. This is just gossip of no importance at all.

    7. You are unbelievable in your mentality. She's "off-duty". She's shopping with her toddler son and being a mum. And here you are critiquing her outfit because she fails to meet your high standards. She is living a normal life in this photo and exposing her son to what a normal life is. When "on-duty" and in other situations, her clothing is exquisitely beautiful and classic. And she carries herself with grace and elegance. Let her relax when she does private errands.

She was running out to do errands or whatever. Must she always look perfect--every single minute of every single day--or is she allowed to be a person (rather than a fancy doll)?

    1. Prince Charles foots the bill for her clothes, and pretty much everything else the Cambridge's spend money on (including their endless renovations). Charles' money comes from the Duchy of Cornwall, he does not 'own' the duchy it belongs to the nation so by extension Charles and the Cambridge's are living off the tax payers, basically we are paying for her thousand pounds worth of casual shopping clothes.

    3. Prince William inherited also 13 million £ from Diana, William has now fortune of 28 million £. Basically he has enough money to pay his wife´s clothes himself. Prince Charles has 210 million £, Queen 550 million £. I really do not think they need to go begging for clothe money for Catherine.

That tax payer sing is so boring. We could also say that for example no nurses had permission to buy any clothes or anything other because their salaries come straight from tax money.

Seems she can't get it right for people out there. She repeats an outfit often enough, she get's criticized be it an expensive one or a cheap one. Now she can't be casual as she wants. She has to be perfect all the time?????

She cannot be perfect, just because there's always be someone who must tell us he thinks she had to wear something different. If we were in pictures every day, how many critics we should have!

  9. I don't care if she wears a $100 outfit or a $5,000 one. My words were spoken in jest, I don't see what's so special about the jacket that it costs so much.

  10. There is a saying, "You can't please all the people all the time, so try to please some of the people some of the time." I think Catherine is Doing fine at pleasing some of the people some of the time. Obviously her style is not going to be the same as everyone else's but she doesn't do any major disgusting things. I think she always looks appropriate and I always admire how she keeps fit and slim.

  12. So she is now not well enough dressed in that paparazzi zoom objective secret picture. That comment is ridiculous. I think she looks just like most of us when shopping with children.

What an earth does it matter what her clothes or shoes cost. Middleton family is also wealthy enough by themselves.

Keeper of this blog should think over publishing these paparazzi pictures. Even royals should have their right to some privacy. There is also no such person as Kate Middleton anymore.

Duchess Catherine has plenty of privacy, it's mostly all she seems to do/want. She makes few public appearances and offers virtually nothing to her countrymen in terms of leadership, not even interviews about her family - which her apologists say is her "job." She is NOT an ordinary person like any other mom shopping, she is the future royal consort, wife and mother to kings. You can't have it both ways, being a political and public figure and being a private person as well. If she goes out in public she doesn't have much "right to privacy," the paparazzi are going to photograph famous people, it's a fact of life, and it's her duty to present herself as a representative and role model for her subjects (and they *are* her subjects, through marriage). People are rightfully interested in her and the family and also have a right to criticize - since her appearance is all she offers that's all there is to discuss! "Just being a mother" isn't an excuse for not making an effort; other royal ladies - and other ordinary ladies - are mothers, dress well, AND work.

    1. Every people has right to privacy, is she/he royal or not. William is not the next to throne, so he and Catherine have not certain well specified role in British Royal Family. This is just my opinion, but BRF has had problem with that issue for very long time. They should sit down and plan things further than just level Queen - prince Charles. When W & C have not role to represent Queen as they seem not to have, they cannot work a lot for Queen. On the other hand when they step next to throne or to throne, that work will continue until they die. They have more than enough time to that work even if they do not do that much yet. Still, just I thing I am reading here very often about Catherine working and still some parrots are all the time shouting how she does not.

I cannot but wonder this doubble standard and level of demands here is for royal ladies, especially to Catherine. In my country mother (or father) can stay out of work for three years and take care of a child. I cannot stop asking why these royal women should need to go to work straight from maternity hospital. If Catherine and William want their children have very normal childhood and Catherine to be home with children, in my standards it is OK. She has many decades, actually much more decades than any average woman, time left when she need to work for BRF.

Good points Blondiini responding to my comment. What I consider "work" is to be a role model, to be a representative of their own family and nation, not just "work" for the Queen. Maybe I should have said "responsibility" but for a royal their public life (and private life to a degree) is a career.

Because the Cambridges are in line of succession their behavior now will be the legacy of their nation when they reach the throne. This includes representing themselves well in attire, being generous and intereting in their subjects, and educating themselves their children for royal duties. I don't see the Cambridges doing a good job with this. For example people say that the children should have a "normal" upbringing as if that's a good thing? They are among an elite so lofty that the demands upon them will be very far from normal and shouldn't the children be very well-prepared for it, with a unique structure that enables them to rise to the responsibilities that they will assume? It seems there is more emphasis in the family on normal than royal. No one ever launched a successful mid-life career by avoiding doing it for as long as possible.

I agree that the "BRF" is doing a poor job with this. Prince Charles has made awful comments about dreading his ascension, and has revealed that his sons (while interested in their special-interest charities) do not have much interest in royal civic work such as international relations, national domestic programs.

      Good discussion!

    7. His last job ended because he was about to be stood down by his commander, because he was unable to fulfill hid required hours in the air 15hours pe rmonth, yes thats right per month not per week, yet he managed to take4 non royal related vacations in one year 9only two were reported in the press).

His new 'job' was created especialy for him the company were not looking for an extra pilot, so he would have an excuse for not taking on full time royal work. He is still on half roster at that job (around 24hours a week) yet he can barely manage 20hours a month on royal duty, Kate barely works 10hours a week. What exactly do they do with all their spare time, they have 5 staff at their home including 2 nannies so it's not like they are needed there 24/7 like your average family.

When they start pulling their weight instead of letting their 90year old grand parents and pension age father do all the work, maybe then we will cut them some slack.

    8. Here we go again, it is of course just to blame Catherine that Queen is still working at her age. I am very sure Catherine has nothing to say in that matter. Queen is not very good at delegating her work.

That 15 hours at air does not mean William was not working 15 hours month, there must be a lot of work ashore, waiting and on call duty in that work. Air time must be a very little part of work hours.

  15. Kate is beautiful and having a casual day with her son, in front of a gaggle of photographers which is unnerving. As usual I ask, where is Camilla? where is Charles? they should be doing most of this so Kate can be a Mum at home. There is not enough time for all the demands she has for her time and perfection. I agree with above, critical comments are nothing new, just boring and sad.

Personally I think a pair of boots would have looked better, but I don't think the outfit Kate is wearing is a disaster or that is looks dreadful. At first glance I thought it was quite nice.

Kate is out and about with her child (privately) so what she is wearing is her business, she is not representing the Queen nor the country. As long as she is comfortable and her child is happy and well cared for what does is matter what footwear she chooses to wear?

  18. My guess was Catherine didn't want to be recognized and popped out for some last minute Christmas items. Her first job is being a good mom and she has that right to be normal
