  5. These photos are simply fabulous. I am especially happy to see Princess Mabel - I feel so sorry for her since the tragic loss of her husband, and wish her very well.
Re Anon 19:18's comment about Princess Beatrix: I find it ironic that no-one would ever say that about a man; why are wrinkles on a man a fine but on a woman, ugly? Sadly, gender and age discrimination is so commonplace that we hardly notice it, and the double standard is everywhere. It’s reinforced by the fact that older women who are in the public eye are mostly entertainment stars -- nearly all of whom have "had work done”.
Cosmetic procedures are, of course, a matter of personal choice. However, because they are a requirement for women in the performing arts, the consequence is that society has developed a skewed idea of what is an acceptable facial skin fold count for an older woman.
What I appreciate about royal women is precisely the fact that they are not entertainers. They are not obliged to look younger in order to fulfill their role with excellence. As such, the older royal women are wonderfully inspiring role models of gracious and dignified old age.

No...the ladies of the Dutch royal family urgently need a new hairdresser....gosh, hair frizz, roots and a hairdo made of concrete....

    2. Votre commentaire m'a amusé ; la coiffure ne doit pas être un métier passionnant aux Pays Bas

Lovely to see all the Dutch Royal Ladies looking so beautiful, well and happy. I think they all look lovely, each in their own individual way. I admire each of them for their individuality.

It is also truly lovely to see the smile reach Mabel's eyes again.
