Yes, wow, not sure what I am seeing here. She is lovely and unassuming but her dress sense leaves a lot to be desired considering her position. I do like the shoes. She does not have a model thin figure but I am sure there is something that would be flattering on her, but she can not seem to find it. The Duchess of Cornwall comes to mind, she is not thin and has a rather top heavy figure but she has found the right stylist to flatter her figure and it works.

She should change the stylist, her outfits sometimes look similar to the dresses of my Granny

She is just her self! ♥ I love that she isn't like all the other A4-Royals, who fight to look like fashion icons!

    1. When I see a royal lady, I would like to see nice hairdos, beautiful clothes that are worn well, and good deportment. They have the money for such things. I don't know why she doesn't take advantage of what is probably available to her. Mette-Marit, even after all the years she's been crown princess, has not learned. Once in a while she looks good in beautiful gowns at tiara events; but most of the time she looks like she doesn't give a darn.

She basically lost the right to be her old self, she is now a high-ranking member of the Norwegian royal family, a future queen. She needs to either abandon ship or shape up (in more ways than one, and I'm referring to her duties)

  6. M-M certainly marches to a different drummer. She is her own person. I would not make the clothing choices she makes for herself, but she obviously doesn't care what others think. She has a gorgeous husband, lovely children, a happy marriage it seems, and she is a crown princess. So what I think about her clothes really doesn't matter in the larger scheme of things.

Darling I'm not being funny but she has wore VERY expensive Valentino's dresses and she never looked good. She has no style, her body lacks elegance and finesse, some people don't have it, and she is one of them. No matter how good the stylist and how big the budget

I agree with Karen, MM is not what we call a beauty, quite the opposite. But she is happy with her weight, so we shouldn't be judging her by her looks. She has good health and a happy family, so who cares if she is not good looking and has a large body? These are unimportant issues.

Bravo! What's wrong with large ladies? She is happy and has a lovely family despite been fat. It's about time people realise is not about having a slim figure, she is just a normal woman, the other queens/ princesses are beautiful and slim, but that doesn't mean she is not as good as they are.

GOSH! That hairdo is just ridiculous, with that manly rough face, and she REALLY needs to loose weight. Horrible pictures, thank God I'm not Norwegian!

  11. Oh my, Mette-Marit needs help. If I were living in Norway I would be so embarrassed right now to think that she will be my queen someday. Poor Haakon.

Her hair is always that horrid white color and her roots always need touching up. But she has outdone herself with the little Chinese Warrior knot on top with the gray roots showing. That hair will fall out soon if she doesn't stop bleaching the heck out of it. She looked so nice years ago.

I'm talking about style and checking yourself over in the mirror before you go out - call your friends over or send them a selfie to see what they think. Betcha she dressed herself, yuck.

In my opinion she is a real natural nordic beaty. She has her own, personal style. She seems to be a very varm and spontanious person, interested in other people and her royal doings .... instead of trying to look like a super-model !!

There is a difference between trying to look like a super-model, and dressing appropriately. She seems to have no idea how to make the most of herself. Every woman, whatever her shape or position in life, can find a way to look good. She does not seem to care how she looks and this is a slap in the face to her countrymen and women.

Jesus! What is that knot on top of her head? Is she having a laugh? I tell you something, not many women have that bad taste in hair and clothes. She always looks awful, doesn't matter she is big, and her face is so masculine... it's terrible

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anonymous10/5/15 09:40

Oh no! She's done it again! Doesn't she realise large women like her shouldn't be wearing loose clothes? That outfit makes her look even bigger than she is. And I prefer not to comment on her new hair style (please)

You all are a disgrace. Other than the fact that she is appropriately covered and dresses with the decorum that the function mandates, why should it matter what she wears. Guess, what? IT'S HER BODY, HER FACE, etc. Reading your comments made me feel like we're in the 1950's again-when women weren't judged on their hard work or ability but on their superficial qualities. Take a good look at yourself and really think if these caustic remarks and degenerate thinking is what you would wish on your daughters, sisters, & yourself. I'm glad that Mette-Marit has the confidence in herself, otherwise she wouldn't get anywhere due to the hateful nature of your likes.

    1. We are a disgrace? I hardly think so. We are normal folks who are not under a microscope like she is. Nobody flashes photos of us all around the world when we go out. When Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway steps out the door she leaves herself open to judgment and criticism, and she knows it.

And what hard work has she done? Has she done much not-so-hard work? She was usually too busy trying to "find herself" (read: long journey that has no end).

As a married-in royal she is public property. She is representing her country and her monarchy. She has a responsibility to them to look and act her best, the concept of which most other princesses and queens seem to have grasped. She doesn't rise to her potential This look was bad even for her. The Snow Queen in Venice is a major fail.

    2. Anonymous11/5/15 01:29

It's easy to hide behind the guise of "she's not rising to her potential" while just being downright nasty and not contributing any constructive criticism. Just remember that you, as a "normal folk" are contributing to this misogynistic hate.

    3. Anonymous11/5/15 01:54

Also, I'd like to add that you just called a woman "public property." A public figure I can understand but public property? That's disgusting. Where is the line between receiving hurtful comments on your appearance and receiving sexual harassment because you're "public property?" Like I stated before, your comments about this piece of public property contributes to the notion that women are second class human beings. No woman, regardless of their role, is public property. She is human first and foremost.

    4. I do apologize for calling her "public property". You are correct to call me out on that, it is DEFINITELY NOT what I meant, I did indeed mean "public figure", I don't know why I wrote "property", yikes. So sorry!! I'm a female as well, and we/she definitely are not public property. Sorry.

I just meant that when Mette-Marit became a princess she became open to criticism from the public that the rest of don't usually get, so she should be more careful when she steps out to "mingle".

    5. Honestly, Rose, sorry if I say this, but your point stands only partially. MM knows she's in the public eye, and probably even more than other royals. Her (for the monarchy) "unconventional" story put her in the headlines a lot, and often she was confronted with criticism (one far worse than comments like "oh God, she wears loose-fitted clothes, what a tragedy!"). She defended herself bravely. I can understand that perhaps you don't like the way she's dressing (and in my opinion also, her choices are not really flattering most of times) but really, statement such "If I were living in Norway I would be so embarrassed right now to think that she will be my queen someday. Poor Haakon" are just distasteful and out of line. Yeah, because a Norwegian citizen would of course be embarassed by such a thing. Please! As for Haakon... well, he chose her and he's truly happy with her, so "poor" maybe is the poorest choice of words ever. It's a little rude. I understand your point of view, since often I ask myself: "Did she really wore THAT?". But some comments are just uncalled for, even if emphatic.

As for Mette... she's just a woman who's reaching a critical age. Your body changes, and probably she's not still entirely comfortable with it, she tries to cover it. She's human.

    6. Oh my word, Marta, this is getting ridiculous. And how do you know Haakon is "truly happy with her"? Do you live in their palace? He staked his throne on her, I hope they're happy. And you said "so 'poor' maybe is the poorest choice of words ever". Yeah, in the history of the world that is definitely the poorest choice of words ever made. Good grief. You've never made a "poor" choice of words? And spare me the "critical age" nonsense, I've been there and sailed through it without all the so-called advantages she's got, I stayed thin, and I know how to dress.

So sorry my choice of words offends you guys. This is just my opinion - you have your opinions. Here we are, total strangers thousands of kilometers apart, wasting time arguing about a Norwegian crown princess.

I've apologized for accidentally using inappropriate terminology. What more do you want? Good grief.

I am signing off from this comment section and have no further interest in it. Good-bye.

Crown princess Mette-Marit is without doubt the most beautiful of all the crown- princesses! She also is very intelligent, varm and well educated for her future role as our queen...
We like her naturall way of being, also in clothing... and her ability to meet people with natural interest and real caring.
MM is a princess for the norwegian people, the way we like to be seen..... not super or perfect, not topp-models... but ordinery human beeings...

Totally agree, - all these critics about MM is probably a result of jalousi over her natural beauty, her intelligens and her taking part in all the global matters that counts.
Look at Letizia, - she has a beuatiful face, helpt by plastic surgery and botox, she has a marvellous styling.... but God so stiff and formel in her way of being. Same you can say about the two danish princesses...

We prefer MM, Victoria and Maxima as role models for representing the best of european royal behavior....

Who ever said that we were a DISGRACE is very rude. I never said anything bad about the Princess, just that her dress sense needs adjusted. She has a figure that needs more flattering clothes. She has beautiful bone structure and can look amazing when she puts the effort. I can not agree that she is the most beautiful of the crown princesses but she is quite lovely. I agree that she is down to earth but she has a very high position and needs to dress accordingly when out in the public. She can put her pajamas on at home like the rest of us when she is not out working.

    I like her!

Maxima of Netherlands has a large body and looks absolutely gorgious. MM overdoes the bleaching of her hair. It doesn't look natural it looks cheap, like she buys a €5 dye from the store and lets it set too long. She doesn't know how to dress either. Her choice of dresses is unbecoming - even expensive outfits look strange on her. There are pics around that have her and Mary of Denmark wearing the same (H&M?) outfit with Mary looking chic and MM like frumpy.
